This was one of the most bizzare natural occurences ive seen. On a day skiing at Big Mountain, Montana, USA, there was a lot of ice crystals floating in the air at the top of the mountain, like skiing thru bubbling champagne or something! in one particular area, the sun reflected of these crystals creating a reflection of the sun down in the trees. amazing day. more pics to come.
A cute natural Black Squirrel, contrasted nicely in three inches of snow. I am honored that this photo was accepted as the avatar of the “Squirrels” group for the last week of March, 2008. Thanks Paul and group members! This design also available as T-shirts, also titled “Feeling Sqiurrely”. All artwork is © Rhonda L. Hall, All Rights Reserved. Standing like a sentinel on guard, this male Coyote in Rocky Mountain National Park glances over his shoulder as he hears something behind him. I managed to captured him when he was prowling around the area for prey, such a gorgeous animal, with the late day sun hitting him perfectly. His eyes are just stunning….. —-—-—-—-—-—-—— See more on my website jdebordphoto.com / All artwork is © John De Bord, All Rights Reserved. Garden Of the Gods Park, outside of Colorado Springs, Colorado, is without a doubt one of my all time favorite places to shoot at….the light there just dances, especially during the golden hours just after sunrise…..Pike’s Peak is in the background, with the wind blowing the snow into the sky. / Thoughts welcomed! Photographed in morning light at Garden Of The Gods Park in Colorado Springs, Colorado, processed in HDR Thoughts welcomed!
Winded snow on Slide Mnt. I was hiking my way up to poach forbidden powder, so the snow wasn’t the only thing that was winded when I took the shot. :-) Near Reno, NV USA 2006 by Jon Johnson.
‘Garden of the Gods’ is a wondrous ‘garden’ just out of downtown Colorado Springs. Known as ‘high desert’ Colorado Springs is nestled at the foot of Pike’s Peak, one of the many 14,000 foot mountains in Colorado. What’s bizarre is the fact this landscape spends most of the winter blanketed by snow, yet when the snow melts, much of it is dry and desert like. Colorado Springs is at around 9000 feet, so the air is clear but thin. This particular rock formation is called ‘The Prayer’ for obvious reasons. It’s an amazing place.
Discovered this lovely spot off the main freeway from Arches National Park to Monument Valley, near Moab. / Perfect place for a lunch break :)

GOOD FRIDAY MAMMATUS / Photo best viewed large. / / / / / / FEATURED WORKS / “GOOD FRIDAY MAMMATUS” was FEATURED in the group #1 ARTISTS OF RED BUBBLE / / / I took this photo of Mammatus on a Good Friday before Easter in Ashland, Kentucky. The clouds first started rolling in and looked like fluffy white marshmallows. Then in front of the setting sun they dramatically began to change colors. They went from snow white to shades of silvers, pinks, grays, blues and even purples! The colors were quite striking and dramatic; these clouds were nothing like anything I had ever seen before! For a few minutes they turned very dark, and it was a sight I will never forget!! These amazing mammatus clouds lasted about 45 minutes before they exited my area. / / / We were under our second tornado watch of the year, and I found out later that I was standing right under the anvil of a severe thunderhead and that a tornado could have formed at any moment! Luckily for me it didn’t, and I was able to capture some phenomenal, amazing clouds. I can’t quite put it into words other than to say, “I closed my eyes for a few seconds and felt like I had been kissed on my cheek by an angel.” This was one time in my life that I will always remember!!! / / / This photograph of “GOOD FRIDAY MAMMATUS” has won National awards, been published in an Anthology, and has been shown on National television. This image is also featured in several websites and blogs throughout the USA and Australia for educational purposes. / / /

The early morning sun and fog move on and around El Capitan.
This is part of the Bear River National Wildlife Refuge that is about 6 miles from my home in Logan, Utah. The mountain range in the background is the Wellsville Mountains, Google them and see some interesting statistics about them! Of course I added the cute Lazuli Bunting, the extra layer of silhouette leaves and the moon, plus a little more cloud color..;-)

Lost in Utah would have been a more apt title after the GPS affectionately known as “Dorothy” lead me to a graveyard instead of a lake lol. I discovered some gorgeous countryside along route. There is nothing better than getting lost :))

Feature Image – AMERICA’s National Parks and WILDLIFE Habitat Group / Feature Image – America’s Natural Wonders Group / Lower Yellowstone Falls is simply a spectacular waterfall that drops 308 feet. It is located along the Yellowstone River below canyon Lodge and is easily viewed from both sides of the canyon by road and by hiking all along Uncle Tom’s Trail. I was in total awe when after trudging through the very slippery ice track I then to come face to face with this amazing vista. It really blew me away. . A Sunrise Over Golden Captured overlooking Golden, Colorado from Lookout Mountain / I went ahead and set the scene up and was thinking “Oh ya, maybe I should try using my filters!” and wallah, this is the outcome! It was a cold morning to say the least, and once again my damn tripod was like a flagpole one licks when it is below freezing lol You have to love the feel of cold, icy steel on bare skin! It is so much fun! NOT! lol But I think it was pretty much worth it. Shot on the Grand Canyon during a storm building up from the north rim. Here it has already spanned the bridge to the south and theres not much left for the sun to shine through. But as I processed this image it was nice to see what shape the clouds where forming with the canyon ;-)
Mount Shuksan is in the North Cascades National Park, Washington State, USA. / This part of the USA is known as “The Pacific North West.” We arrived here good and early, before the crowds arrived, and since there is a highway running all the way to “Artist Point” it can indeed get busy , I guess owing to the fact that it is easily accessible from the Seattle region, straight off the Interstate from Bellingham, an easy drive of less than two hours, and not too remote, / I spotted some postcards and tourist brochures with a variety of images of this scene, and determined to see it for myself. Glad I did. I would love to see this when snow blankets the ground ! “In every walk with nature one receives far more than he seeks.” JOHN MUIR Shot on a CANON EOS 20D, mounted on a tripod, polarising filter attached, f22, 1/30 sec, iso 100, auto wb, 18-55mm lens, / set at 18mm, RAW file, processed as much as possible in Adobe Camera Raw then CS3, usual levels/curves adjustments, LAB colour, Intellisharpen used.
