  • Looking due west from Mt.Hotham a setting sun gave a nice contrast to the pure white snow slopes. ~ / Browse Images by Category : Snow Landscape Nature

  • Cold winter landscape

  • A maze of snowgums in the Buller backcountry, stripped of their foliage by the bushfires last summer. Other Landscapes ... More Mountains ... More Mt Buller ...

  • November, years ago, near sunset at the Chilkat River, where around 3000 bald eagles congregate to feast on a late salmon run. It was a slow year when I went; there were only about 600 eagles. The sun came up at 10am and went down around 2:30, and did a little arc in the southern sky when we could see it at all. It was a great trip and I’d love to go back now that I have more skill and better gear.

  • The light was actually rather blueish purple because the sun was setting, so I just turned up the contrast a bit and suddenly it looked like something from a film. / Northern Jutland, March 2008

  • one day we were up there and the Great Lake was frozen you could walk out on it, not me im from Texas…....my husband was born there in Grand Marais, not I, i told him you walk out on it…....lol a beatuiful sunset

  • This is part of the Bear River National Wildlife Refuge that is about 6 miles from my home in Logan, Utah. The mountain range in the background is the Wellsville Mountains, Google them and see some interesting statistics about them! Of course I added the cute Lazuli Bunting, the extra layer of silhouette leaves and the moon, plus a little more cloud color..;-)

  • Photograph of sunset off the coast of Southern Iceland. February 2008.

My Mom and I just went for a Sunday afternoon drive, and actually got the car stuck in the snow off the road, while waiting for the tow truck I took some shots as the sun was setting. I love this State!

  • A Sunrise Over Golden Captured overlooking Golden, Colorado from Lookout Mountain / I went ahead and set the scene up and was thinking “Oh ya, maybe I should try using my filters!” and wallah, this is the outcome! It was a cold morning to say the least, and once again my damn tripod was like a flagpole one licks when it is below freezing lol You have to love the feel of cold, icy steel on bare skin! It is so much fun! NOT! lol But I think it was pretty much worth it. Hope ya all like it! / John Minolta 5D / Minolta 18-70 DT Lens / Singh-RAY CPL / Cokin P002 / Dynatran Tripod / And a LOT of hot coffee! / Raw—Processed through LR, find output thru PS and PSP

  • Mitre Peak, Milford Sound, Fiordland National Park South Island, New Zealand. Sunset. With the average rainfall being 182 days of the year, your lucky if you get a sunset at all. This is just another lucky day. Milford Sound runs 15 kilometres inland from the Tasman Sea and is surrounded by sheer rock faces that rise 1,200 metres (3,900 ft) or more on either side. Lush rain forests cling precariously to these cliffs, while seals, penguins, and dolphins frequent the waters. It’s magical place this. Very hard to leave.

  • The Sound of the Sun / Embrace of the Everlasting “It makes one all right, / though you hadn’t thought of it, / A sound like the sound of the sky on fire, / like Armageddon, / Whistling and crackling, the explosions of sunlight booming / As the huge mass of gas rages into the emptiness around it. It isn’t a sound you are often aware of, / though the light speeds / To us in seconds, / each dawn leaping easily across a chasm / Of space that swallows the sound of that sphere, / but If you listen closely some morning, when the sun swells Over the horizon and the world is stil / and still asleep, / You might hear it, / a faint noise so far inside your mind / That it must come from somewhere, / from light rushing to darkness, / Energy burning towards entropy, / towards a peaceful solution, / Burning brilliantly, spontaneously, in the middle of nowhere, And you, too, must make a sound that is somewhat like it, Though that, of course, you have no way of hearing at all.” ~ The Sound of the Sun by George Bradley Sun Pillar / Sunset near Chena River Lakes Recreational Park / Wilderness of North Pole Alaska / From my collection: / Emerquinox Spirit of Alaska / Emerquinox is a word I coined when I combined the words Emerge and Equinox.
