  • Melbourne city pub, cnr Bourke and Spring, 1991, smokey bars are now a thing of the past

  • Ah the smoker. What a bum deal he gets. Can’t do it inside, can’t do it in certain places outside. / But it looks so relaxing. / This stolen moment is one of my favourites. He was just sitting there thinking about whatever people taking 5 minutes from the hustle think about.

  • self, smoking as usual

  • This is a T-shirt to promote the ‘ninety smokers’ project, a piece of work carried out by photographer Dan Donovan in the UK to counteract the criminalising of smoking in any indoor public venue after 1st July 07. The work can be viewed at Donovan’s web site www.dandonovan.co.uk

  • ingredients: / the chemical composition of the average human body (if you are a smoker) Actually, the listed ingredients in cigarettes is around 4000 chemicals! / source: Quit Victoria. check out the ingredients tee range /

  • This a photo of a drawing I did in 1990. It’s white pencil on black paper. The photo didn’t come out very good but I will take a better photo when I get my new camera.

  • It’s called ‘acting fast’ and being at the right place at the right time. I randomly captured this fellow photographer taking an architectural shot of a Downtown NYC building. I loved the smoke coming from his cigarette. He’s surely a European visitor (of which we have many because of the current exchange rate between the dollar & the euro). Hmmm…seems I should be getting more purchases of my work from the my fellow, friendly Europeans on RB.

  • on saturday, sept 20th ‘08 my boyfriends band played at a bbq cook-off at a farm just outside of town. / this guy was sitting on a hay bale in front of the stage [which was actually just a hay wagon lol..oh our hick town..] during the boys set, he was the only one dancing in front of the stage..hopping around and whatnot. with a beer in one hand, and his cigar in the other. / he kept pestering me and my friend jenny to join him…but we were quite comfortable in our chairs with our boys sweaters over our legs. / then when he left, we got up and started taking pics of the band..he was kind of mad at us and gave us a drunken lecture. lol. it was pretty funny. / jenny even caught a picture of him in mid-flight tripping backwards over some cords. / it was a good show, lots of good people wth good food. / i had a great time. it was an awesome way to end the summer.

  • Inspired by the song by Coldplay and by an old photo of my grand-aunt. She was not as barely dressed as this lady – but she enjoyed the good things of life as well.

  • Death in a 20-pack..

  • This was part of a series of tattoo theme designs I did some years back. I also did tribal designs too working with vector. This was done in illustrator then touched up in photoshop.

  • A cheroot smoker at the market in Bagan, Burma – one of the last of a dying breed.

  • An image from the “Smokers” series. / This time in Art Nouveau style. I love that epoch… / Art Nouveau, also known as Jugendstil , is an international movement and style of art, architecture and applied art—especially the decorative arts—that peaked in popularity at the turn of the 20th century (1890–1905). A reaction to academic art of the 19th century, it is characterized by organic, especially floral and other plant-inspired motifs, as well as highly-stylized, flowing curvilinear forms. Art Nouveau is an approach to design according to which artists should work on everything from architecture to furniture, making art part of everyday life… Japanese wood-block prints, with their curved lines, patterned surfaces, contrasting voids, and flatness of visual plane, also inspired Art Nouveau. Some line and curve patterns became graphic clichés that were later found in works of artists from all parts of the world…

  • One more image from the “Smokers” series. / This time in “street prophecy” style… last May in San Remo… The narrow streets run up to the hill… / I met him right at the corner of street market. He was smoking and talking, may be to himself, may be to the people passing by him. His speech was very important to him but not to others. And only one listener – his dog… / Perhaps it was the prophecy… Sometimes God sends very important message using these people – street prophets… Who knows…
