Memories of the beach
ACT OF KINDNESS Act of kindness reminds us that nature had warmth and love to give us and when we need to be stimulated, it is all around us if we but look. It has the power to revive us if we let it. It is a reminder that the simplest things are the best in life. I have co-ordinated the poem Act of Kindness with my images from nature. ACT OF KINDNESS / Softly my arms / Lift to the aroma / Let my heart take breath / Breathe in life / That vivaciously abounds / In the tang / Of occasions of unmerited solace / And involves us in a tapestry / Which can engrave itself / And entangle itself / With exquisite peace. / It becomes a refreshment / That we can recall / In thought or dream / The thing that comes to mind / At the strangest of time / And brings a smile. / Even in woody grandeur / There can be / The most humble stimulation / We ever ignore the inevitable / The comfort trying to show its face / It becomes richer with subtle embrace / Then when we are gasping for life / It is there / It outshines the man-made divine / It reflects and stimulates / Thoughts of a greater time / Significant in its modesty
Around the year with a smile!
A mixture to bring a sparkle to your eye and a smile to your lips.
I want to visually tell the story of the Filipino youth – A story of smiles and laughter, of pain and poverty. The youth are the hope for the Philippines and I want to give them a visual voice. Like all youth, they are vulnerable, and like all humans they deserve food, shelter and happiness. Too often they don’t have this. Impoverished Filipino people want to get out of their county and too often being a nanny, construction worker, or prostitute is what they have to do. The Philippines is being engulfed with fast food and big corporations, while the people are left to fend for themselves. A seasoned traveler I have never been to a country so full of smiles and kindness, especially from the youth. I have also never been to a country so full of disparity between the rich and the poor: Starving babies sleep outside of McDonalds, families living in tarps outside of seven-eleven. Poverty exists in the rural areas, but it is the city (Manila) where people are starving. This series was completed the day before Hurricane Ketsana hit the Philippines and other parts of Southeast Asia leaving more than 300 people dead. I want to see the children in my photographs reach their full potential, and be given the same opportunities as those who run the big corporations that have taken over the Philippines. all proceeds from this photograph will be donated to IFRC to help the victims of flooding from Typhoon Ketsana in the Philippines *If this photograph inspires you to donate to this cause (any NGO doing good) I would love to hear about it!
~we are all beautiful, no matter what sex, size, colour, age, etc. We are failing to see true and natural beauty because of the way beauty is being displayed in magazines by the media, if it wasn’t thanks to editing programs, plastic surgery, fitness trainers and/or eating disorders, models and celebrities wouldn’t be as slim-toned and so look as ‘perfect’ as they do. We need to open our eyes to the truth and stop comparing ourselves to what is not a reality. YOU ARE BEAUTIFUL, wake up every morning and tell your self that! There is no need to hide your natural beauty in layers of make-up, there is no need to push your body over its limit working out! Be happy with how you are! There is no one else in the world like you. You are special and your beauty shines from within. – Kohii This calander is about natural beauty. 50% of what is earned through sales will be donated to The Butterfly Foundation, supporting Australians with eating disorders. http://www.thebutterflyfoundation.org.au/default.aspx
