  • I love it when children get so involved in what they are doing that the rest of the world gets shut out. This is my daughter and nephew discussing the finer properties of grass-or something equally as important.

Tommy would just scream and laugh every time we went fast, and the laughing became contagious. It was one of my favorite days of the summer. Tommy has cerebral pulsy and is 50 years old. When they left, he told Crystal that he finally has friends.

  • This photo of Dakota is for a challenge in Playful Photogenic Pets…”How has your pet made a difference in your life”. This was taken in my backyard in front of my waterfall. My Gorgeous White Retriever PLEASE VIEW LARGE! I didn’t want another dog, why would I, I already have two Goldens – one blonde and one red, and a small zoo of other animals at home but when I heard Dakota’s story and how he was living his life, we went to see him. Dakota had some issues that kept him from being sold) so a crate until he was 18 months old (he had to be this age to be put in the run with the breeding males) was his future. When I met Dakota he was timid and scared of everything. I couldn’t resist the look in his eyes that begged me to take him home. When I brought Dakota home I had to drag him in my house (he had never been in a house let alone hear a tv set) and he immediately ran to the bathroom and hid. He slept in the bathroom for three weeks before he ventured out and started to sleep next to me on the floor. Each day was a new challenge for him and for me but because of Dakota I stopped working so many hours at work and at home and started taking more time to appreciate my surroundings and of course started thinking what new adventure we were going to take each weekend – I want Dakota to experience everything. Dakota has made such a difference in my life by showing me that a little love and patience has many wonderous returns. He now sleeps next to me on the bed and as you can see by this adorable face, he makes me Smile from the minute I wake up in the morning to the minute I go to bed. I thank God everyday to have been blessed with such a magnificent friend that has stepped into my life and heart and slowed me down enough to stop and appreciate the many wonderful things around me. Dakota was 7 months old when he came home with me, he is now 1 year old! Nikon D80 / Lens 50-200mm / This photo was taken in my backyard

  • I sat in my blue little car when all of a sudden four long and majestic legs crossed my view. Following the legs up into the blue this lovely face came in sight… ;-) I have been to a wildlife sanctuary in northern Germany called “Serengeti-Park Hodenhagen”. You can drive by car (your own one!) through several areas full of animals from all over the world (e.g. bears, zebras, horses, lions and tigers) or you can go by bus. The animals decide whether to come close to your car or stay away. You are allowed to get off your car in some areas (ponies or goats live there), in other areas you are allowed to open your windows, in some you have to keep doors and windows closed. At the beginning and end of the tour through all of these areas you come past the giraffes. Most of the time they like to come to the cars to get some goodies. It is quite impressive to have their noses inside your car! And even more impressive it is when they stand on one side of the car but come through the opposite window…

  • Mila (2) looking angelic although it was short lived. After I took these shots of her today, she changed immediately out of her ‘angel dress’ and into shorts and a t-shirt, only to play in the mud, change again, fall in a puddle, change again, have a fight with her four year old brother, get pushed over on the wet trampoline, change again…. ah, the life and laundry of lovely little Mila… Shot in natural light using my Canon EOS 500D / Shooting Date/Time 2009/12/09 03:01:36 PM / Tv( Shutter Speed ) 1/80 / Av( Aperture Value ) 8.0 / ISO Speed 200
