Our trivia team one again last night, this time we where had 73 points out of possible 80, so where are getting smarter, lol. Another bottle of wine went down a treat. Tnaks to me knowing that on the Salvation Army Logo B & F stands for blood and fire and also working out that Pollisnosis is actually Hay fever. That is the excitment for this week. well at this stage anyway. Thanks for listening guys.

  • A Tip for You - Smart Sharpening in Photoshop

I have just learned a really useful little tip for Sharpening images in Photoshop which I thought I should share with you all. Until now when I sharpened an image in CS3 with Smart Sharpen I used to sharpen and then leave it at that. As you may well know over sharpening can produce exaggerated noise and produce “halo” effects on your edges which look plain nasty. Here’s a few useful tips to help you improve the quality of your sharpening. – Always sharpen to a NEW LAYER (Merge all to new layer using SHIFT+CTRL+ALT+E on PC’s) – I always convert this layer to a smart object to allow me to modify any applied filter effects. – Always change the blend mode on this layer to LUMINOSITY. This massively reduces the halo effects on your sharpened image. (Try over-sharpening an image and then changing the blend mode to luminosity just to see this in action) – Follow these guidelines for smart sharpening for the best results For STANDARD SHARPENING – Amount 100, Radius <=2 / For SOFT IMAGES – Amount 140, Radius <=1 / For PORTRAITS – Amount <=5 Try these guidelines out and see what you think.

Current mood: relaxed Took a few Iq tests and they say I’m smart, it also says im a great storyteller, so lets begin…I’ve been through so many domestic events, that I don’t know where to begin really… I started out with a great family, great parents, great grandparents, and then it all went to hell. I’ve been handed off from one family member to the next like a damn commodity, all while being optimistic about things and hoping I won’t get sold out too fast. Yet, being as it may, I’ve been to many schools, lived in many neighborhoods and been in and out of the ghetto. On the one hand, I still had one half of my family dominated by weath and fortune, intellect and shining brilliance, and on the other, instinct and the intrusively, hellish ghetto. While balancing that equation is tortuous to say the least, pushing past it all has helped me make important decisions about life in general. The closest thing to explain my idea lies in psychology. The idea that I’m at a place in life where everything comes together in a completely sensible manner and being integrated in a place easily accessible for my tastes. Throughout the years, I’ve gone deep into a theory or problem to find myself unable to backoff. I can jump over to these stones of sensibility aforesaid and remember all the things that have led me into this black hole of passionate inquiry, while I crawl out for a breath of fresh air. Most times I’m just lucky to be alive. Under entirely different circumstances, I could have intensified my training, but today I sit on the electronics industry, waiting for another revolution involving theories of an energetic and electronic nature. Examples include the Digital Age and the Internet Revolution. Thanks for stoppin’ by and best of luck to everyone involved in bringing us to the next level of revolutionized thinking and opportunity abound. —“Peace to the middle east”

in my disgrace of looking in the mirror at my face. / i up the pace and go with haste, that i may leave this place. / go without a trace, be erased, afterlife embraced / no longer in the chase, moving on from lost faith / these are the thoughts of a basket case dreams of death and silence riddle me / visions of breath and science belittle me / because what cannot be explained doesn’t even have a explanation / based on fake facts of the past / history is a lie, the pictures i’ve seen were painted… / just like today’s painters can paint imaginations they’ve seen / but that does not make the painting, a painting of something real! / my imagination riddles me with such questions, / as if, if there is “A” god / why would he let others worship another “GOD”? / and where did this god come from? / it/he/she/whatever had to start from something! / blah the reminisce of my mind is a scary place… so i shall right about it

Wow. We made our first sale in less than 72 hours on RedBubble. There we were finding inspiration from TV’s Golden Girls and – BAM – an email from a Mr. Baxter. That dude is dope. Anyway. Many thanks to the buyer of our t-shirt. It’s the first one we’ve ever sold and that feels better than Dr. Scholl’s gel shoe inserts. Between the government dole and RedBubble, we might just make it home for Christmas. Back to the teletube. Buy this witty and poorly-designed t-shirt here.

  • SMART Goals
    by Karin Taylor

    Hi everyone, Setting SMART Goals...

Hi everyone, Setting SMART Goals The above 5 min video explains a bit about what an effective (SMART) goal should look like. Setting goals is one of the traits of highly successful people, yet statistics show that less than 5% of the population actually do for many different reasons. I hope the above video gives you a headstart on setting yourself goals which are reasonable and help you you further your creativity, hobby or career, etc. I also would like to introduce you to the NAVA website (National Association for Visual Arts) just in case you haven’t already heard of it, this is a wonderful resource with a searchable database full of terrific advice and articles. Cheers, / Karin :)

I’ve got a lunch date with a MUCH younger man tomorrow. He’s sweet and funny and hairy like a spider monkey. I like all of that. I’m old enough to be his parent. I used to think that I couldn’t contemplate someone under thirty, but he is exceptional. Am I a male cougar? Please don’t say chicken hawk, ‘cause he’s mid-twenties… Absolutely flattering, I tell you.

Hello all my friends here on Red Bubble I need to let you know that I will be away for a little while… Some of you will know that both I and my family have been under a fair bit of stress lately with having to move house for renovations and so forth, also, that I have not been too well. Until now, I have been pushing myself to continue with my photography and time here on RB as much as I could – because I really WANTED to, because it made me feel better to still be able to ‘create’... Well – unfortunately it finally got to the point where I have had to admit that I need a total ‘break’ from everything (well – I’m not exactly talking about abandoning my kids here though…. reality still ‘rules’...lol) if I am not to literally ‘drive myself to the hospital’. Then – to just drive this point home to me a little more thoroughly, my beloved computer decided that it would make sure I stick to this by requiring a ‘hospital break’ itself – yes – it just ‘died’ – and I delivered it to the computer hospital this morning :((( So often that is the way of things – I have not believed in ‘coincidences’ any more for a long time. Better my computer in hospital than me. So – I will now be ‘resting and hopefully finally recovering’ from these past months of far too much stress. My daughter has been hassling me to read the ‘Twilight’ series for months… maybe I’ll finally get around to doing that now – until this moment my art always taken priority. Now – my computer has made sure it can’t. I will miss you – all my friends. Maybe I will be able to drop in occasionally on someone else’s computer to see how things are getting on in the land of RB. I will not be properly back myself though until my computer has ‘recovered’ – which I am told may be a week or more :((((( And – who knows? I may be inspired to arrive back on RB with some images of amazing, superhumanly beautiful vampires????? (anyone know of a model capable looking that ‘good’ lol?) Kallena

I took a family portrait last week at their home in front of their Christmas tree. Knowing that this would be horrible lighting I took my shoot through umbrella. Worked great. Well my issue of which I have many is that I have PC and a MAC. I decided to load them on to my MAC which I did and adjusted them in CS4. Looked great and burned a CD for them. To be on the safe side I popped it into my PC because that is what they have and they looked so dark! My question is isn’t a MAC much better as far as true to color or do I have to get this thing calibrated somehow? The photos looked a bit red on the MAC or in CS4 is there something I can do to make an adjustment over all of the photos that is consistent so each photo looks about the same? / Anyone getting what I mean? / She loved the photos but I am stuck between what my MAC looks like and what my PC looks like. Adjusting them on the PC will make them to bright on the MAC and adjusting them on the MAC will make them too dark on the PC. Which one should I trust. / I hope this makes sense! / Thanks for any help! / Susan
