  • Sometimes its the only place you want to be for a bit of escapism…

  • Cute cafe in a small town.

  • Original is oil paint on canvas. Inspired by Binney Street, Euroa and every other town like her. As you can gather from the title, I had a bogan upbringing. Small towns, great life in retrospect but bugger all to do. In fairness to my hometown, there is a little more than a milkbar, pub and the co-op, but not much more, Still we had fun, sort of. For all those who are, like me at heart, repressed bogans, the cars are based on an EK or FB ute and an EH or EJ Holden ute…. you decide. Just one note, if this makes no sense I was a little pickled when I painted it.

  • mixed media (acrylic, pastel, ink transfer) / From “Who’s That Girl, Twelve Incarnations of Ruby”. This is where Ruby begins her journey, a place she loves, but feels confined by.

  • This photograph of the SeaView Cafe in Hope , Alaska was taken in 1986 using a Mamiya Universal medium format film camera. It has been re-touched and altered somewhat to salvage a faded and rather grainy color negative.

  • here in townsend like any other place in the US of A, we celebrated the fourth of july with fireworks. / This fireworks show was actually done in a small community that is within the town, area called Big Valley. / Our town fireworks were done on friday night on the fourth, and they had their’s the next night. / I shot this using the “bulb” setting, which i have realized it’s something I need to practice on. It takes just the right timing to get all the light you can and then release the button just as the fireworks explode. there is alittle trial and error for using this method of shooting, especially when what you’re shooting is constantly changing / best if viewed larger :) Shot this in Manual Mode / using bulb setting / Focal length at 17mm / ISO of 1600 / Exposure time at 7 sec / Ev at 0 / F-stop at F11

  • Taken witn a Nikon D90

  • My Town, USA I drove into Anderson, CA on November 1, 2008 to take a photo of My Town, USA……I think this pretty much depicts a normal, small town here in the USA………only ten miles south of Redding, CA on I-5; it was actually pouring down rain when I stopped in the middle of the street to shoot this….taken through my windshield. The base image was of such poor quality that I edited it in PhotoImpact to achieve this final state……I live in a rural area outside of town and we have only Oaks and Pines…..no trees that turn with the Autumn colors as this part of town…..I had to take a shot then, even though we were in the middle of a huge storm (first of the season); I knew if I waited and came back another time the leaves and that gorgeous color would be long gone. I hope you enjoy….. / ___ / All The Materials Contained May Not Be Reproduced, Copied, Edited, Published, Transmitted Or Uploaded In Any Way Without My Permission. • This small town barber shop has been in existence for almost sixty years; my father, 84 years young, is still at the helm, taking care of his clientele who prefer Daddy’s skills (and conversation) to the modern day, slick salons and spas. Here’s the old pro giving a trim to his great-grandson who was in town for the holidays. Visiting Daddy’s barbershop is like a step back in time; it may not be full of fancy products or have fashionable decor, but it’s got character and the old gents who congregate there have interesting stories to tell and rich, abundant lives to share. I feel much more at home there than in the sleek salons.

  • Some of you may have seen an earlier post of my 84 year old father cutting my 5 year old grandson’s hair. Sandy Stewart gave me the idea to add this image (a different shot) in sepia tones. I also added the diffuse glow filter to give the image a “look back in time” feel to it. Thanks, Sandy, for your suggestion; it was a good one! My father, a WWII veteran who survived the sinking of the Yorktown in the South Pacific, has been cutting hair since post war days. He has a collection of sweet potato labels which are scattered throughout his shop and a ton of other memorabilia on the walls. If you View Larger, you’ll see to Daddy’s left a photo of him cutting my son’s hair. My son, who is now 33 years old, was probably about the same age as my grandson in that picture. When Daddy showed my son the finished haircut by producing a little hand held mirror, Tom always put his hands over his eyes. He was too shy to see his cute little self up close like that! I love the way the generations are documented here and the way Paw Paw Taylor, as my son and grandson call him, is shown still working and still enjoying it in his golden years of life. Hope you like this image, “The way it was and still is . . .” Another view: /

  • one of the few chances we had getting snow this year, it’s really been slim. / this was shot one morning on the back roads of my humble little town of townsend cuddled within the great smoky mountains. a true treat capturing the fog and the snow all together :) / and dont worry snowhog, your snowman will be coming soon :) (she knows who im talking about) / Best if viewed larger. / If you’re interested in buying this artwork, please go to the wildlife-appeal Shot this in SS mode / SS of 1/80 sec / F-stop of F/14 / ISO at 400 / Exposure Comp at 0 / Focal Length of 59mm

  • A house in Montezuma, Georgia, that I have stalked a bit too much, but I think I finally got the image I was after. The house is being restored, but it’s still got just the right amount of decay and old dignity to make me think of how Faulkner would have described it in a story.
