  • / Another Sleeping giant at Bali Island Indonesia..A non active volcano.. / A range of towering volcanic mountains divides the island into northern and southern portions. For the Balinese these mountains are the homes of the gods. The range includes four primary sacred mountains: Agung, Batur, Batukao and Abang. Of these, Gunung Agung, Bali’s highest mountain at 10,308 feet (3142 meters), is the most sacred to the island’s Hindus, while Gunung Batur is considered most holy by the aboriginal people living in the remote jungles around Lake Batur. Mt. Agung is the abode of Batara Gunung Agung, also identified as Mahadewa, the supreme manifestation of Shiva. Mt. Batur and Lake Batur are sacred to Dewi Danu, the Goddess of the Lake. Also called Ida Ratu Ayu Dalem Pingit, this goddess is regarded as the provider of irrigation water in the form of bubbling natural springs that issue all over the lower slopes of Mt. Batur. An enormous fresh-water lake of 4240 acres, sacred Lake Batur is considered by farmers and priests to be the ultimate source of the springs and rivers that provide irrigation water for the whole of central Bali. / so that’s a bit of the inside story..I will be posting the other 2 remaining mountain as well next time..till then hope you like this one / cheers Ant / —-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—- / Portrait / Architectural / people/culture / Macro / Landscape / Still Life / Animal / Nude/FineArt / SunsetCollection / Flowers / Model Maria Anne / Model Saskia Ying / Model Blondie / Model Tammy / Kids / The Book Of Love —-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-- All The Materials Contained May Not Be Reproduced, Copied, Edited, Published, Transmitted Or Uploaded In Any Way Without My Permission. • A winter panorama shot of the valley Valldal on the west coast of Norway, taken during the christmas holiday. Stitched together of 15 pictures. Post-processing: / Stitched some pictures together, obviously. Fixed the contrast with curves, added a lighter curve only on the lower part as the valley was pretty dark, and the mountain tops really light. Added two black and white layers set to hard light (140%), mainly on the sky and the mountain tops.

  • It’s a wonderful time when summer approaches to Eastern Nevada. There are still snow high in the mountains, however, it melts rapidly in the day and freezes at night. This capture has been taken on July 12, 2007. The snow was in perfect condition to pegging foot in. Then I used the same footmark on my way back and took this shot. It was not dangerous. It’s just an illusion of that. A few steps were like that only. You would laugh if you see the whole picture. But the view was really beautiful. I liked this composition too. Nevada… Arvy was here, but Kilroy didn’t! Nevada is a fairyland that sounds like a glorious music to my ear.

  • It was snowing heavily in late evening upon our arrival in St Johann, Austria. This lovely lone tree was full of snow and went straight into my must photograph journal, I decided to wait till morning to get the best light. The only thing that stopped my planned photograph, the morning rain. Although this shot was not what I was intending I am happy with the result as the mist did help in isolating the tree. Greeting Cards / Framed Print / Canon 5D, 24-70mm at 70mm, f/11, 1/400 sec, ISO 200. No filters used. A massive amount of dust and hair removed in photoshop, where had my camera been and OMG, how do I stop the sensor getting that dirty? • I’m so glad every now and then it snows heavily in England. I rushed out looking for potential spots to photograph, I took this one in Eaton Bray, Bedfordshire, UK. Photographed from the car as that was the only place I could see to get the shot between the hedges without falling in a ditch. Plus it was cold and I’d rushed out of the house without a jumper. BGB Canon 5D, 24-70mm at 70mm, f/14, 1/200 sec, ISO 200. No filters used. I just had the sensor cleaned to this is straight form the camera. • This is a drive by shooting. On a coach to St. Johann, Austria, the coach driver was tearing around the smallest hair pin turns on tiny Alpine roads as if he was late for some dumpling festival. I had the camera out just in case we crashed and took this photo while waiting for the crunch. Luckily that never happened. I hope you like it. Greeting Cards / Framed Print / Canon 5D, 24-70mm at 35mm, f/3.5, 1/1600 sec, ISO 1600. No filters used. A death speed coach window in the way. I evened out the chrome abs because of the high iso. • Due to the amazing amount of comments I have had from Solitude I thought I’d share this shot. I couldn’t help myself, I had to walk up to the tree, hence the footprints in the virgin snow, although retracing my footprints to take the photograph was very difficult. This shot was taken in St Johann, Austria. I hope you like it. Greeting Cards / Framed Print / Canon 5D, 24-70mm at 70mm, f/11, 1/400 sec, ISO 200. No filters used. A massive amount of dust and hair removed in photoshop. • I’m so glad every now and then it snows heavily in England. Just after stuffing the car into a ditch, through expert test driving on ice, ahem, actually practicing handbrake turns, oops. While deciding how to dig the car out on the ditch in Eaton Bray, Bedfordshire, UK, I noticed these lovely trees. / It was a fair old way into the middle of the field to get the right perspective but I’m glad I did. / I hope you like it. Greeting Cards / Framed Print / Canon 5D, 24-70mm at 57mm, f/9, 1/400 sec, ISO 400. No filters used. Dust and scratches removed in PS. • Fall in NV comes quietly gilding aspens, other trees, and brushes along its way. This capture has been taken in Eastern NV on the slopes of North Schell Creek Range. Ah, Nevada!

  • I’m so glad every now and then it snows heavily in England. I rushed out looking for potential spots to photograph, I took this one in Mentmore, Bedfordshire, UK. I’m not sure I should have been there as it looked like a private golf club. There were keen golfers ready and willing to play with their orange balls and stern looks, probably due to my entrance – as I didn’t get onto the grounds the traditional way – I hoped they didn’t mind too much as I scampered back to the car. Greeting Cards / Framed Print / Canon 5D, 24-70mm at 52mm, f/5.6, 1/125 sec, ISO 200. No filters used. A nice sturdy but ice covered tripod. A keen sense of fun. A slight touchup job in CS4. This shot is also available from a photobook collection called Rural Mementos by redtree.me © Copyright 2009 David Reid – redtree.me – All rights reserved.

  • This is the background to the composite picture I called “Morrow”. This shot was taken in Woburn, Bedfordshire, UK. I took a few shots, some empty then a few of myself walking (actually running and counting) down the path. I was quite glad no one was around as it must have looked a sight. Sprint-Count-Stop-Pose-Jog back and repeat. I hope you like it, sans figures. Greeting Cards / Framed Print / Canon 5D, 24-70mm at 24mm, f/8, 1/80 sec, ISO 200. No filters used. A slight touchup job in CS4. This shot is also available from a photobook collection called Rural Mementos by redtree.me © Copyright 2009 David Reid – redtree.me – All rights reserved.

  • Flash gun mayhem in Eaton Bray Bedfordshire, UK. I have never taken pictures of snow with a flash gun before and I wasn’t sure of the effect. This is the result. A fun crimbo card for all. Greeting Cards / Framed Print / Canon 5D, 24-70mm at 62mm, f/11, 1/250 sec, ISO 100. A small amount of dust and scratches removed in photoshop. © Copyright 2009 David Reid – redtree.me – All rights reserved.
