I’ve finally worked the kinks out of the movie/dvd thingie(with a lot of help from my friends:-). Here is a link to a slide show from the dvd that I’ve posted on YouTube: / http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gsemk3ye0NA I had up a too long version with samples of all of my work but / Barbara Sparhawk suggested that I upload the separate movies which all had something in common. Of course the first one, above, is all about my sweet beautiful horse, Mouse:-) / Let me know what you think and I appreciate any advice, input or criticism because I’m trying to get this right. ThanksSande / Oh, one thingwatch the “high quality” version it is much sharper and better.

Ok, it’s still all my horse, Mouse, and I’m still working out those kinks but I think I did a much better job of melding the images with the music on this on and I like the music better. I figured, since I’m not planning on selling this, I’d take the chance and actually use music that I like…lol…It is Pony by The Waifs…must admit it is suitable:-)...gonna get on my pony and ride Oh, forgot to say: WATCH IN HIGH QUALITY if you can. It makes a world of difference.

I put the dvd together last night and I’m pleased with it. I know it could still be improved on a LOT but for a first effort, it’s not too bad if I do say so myself..lol / It has four movies on the menu and all can be seen on YouTube now. All are best viewed in the high quality option but I don’t believe that Horses & Horse People can be since it is so large. / So, here they are: Horses & Horse People / For Love of a Gray Horse~Mouse in monotone / Posters & Mixed Media / and last or first and certainly the most fun to make… / Gonna Get on My Pony and Ride song by The Waifs I’ve actually reworked several of these for the dvd especially the last one with The Waifs song. I changed it around quite a bit. There are still things that I could correct, such as the length of the copyright blurb at the end but the dvds are burned so that will have to wait for the next one:). / I’m going to design the dvd label and insert sheet next week. I may post it if it turns out Ok. I really like the simple to use i-Movie software that comes with Mac. Those of you that are familiar with it: I chose the movie/film format with my business name revolving constantly on film with one of my photos on it. I chose a black and white, On the Run, and then I added a black and white of trees silhouetted against a cloudy sky for the background. Each film constantly shows in the little buttons that you click on to play; I thought that was neat, too. I was able to add music to the menu in i-dvd. I really like how it looks and I’m thinking of offering them for sale on my website. Don’t know if they will actually sell but it’s worth a try. Oh, and I cleared up the fuzzy problem that I was having last week when I’d watch the dvd on a large screen TV. I watched the new dvd last night and I thought it looked pretty good and sharp for being blown up that large. So, after a week without sleep and trial and error..and error…and error..lol…and a lot of gnashing of teeth and pulling of hair, I’ve finally…ALMOST…gotten what I set out to get…and what more can I ask for:) / If my blunders and trips can help anyone else, don’t hesitate to ask. It’s much easier to learn from someone else’s mistakes than your own-hurts less anyway :-) ~Sande

  • TUTORIAL:Add a Slide show to your Redbubble Profile/Bubblesite

Adding a slide show to redbubble Ok not really a slide show but it is very close, It’s an animated gif image. / You can see one My Bubblesite These images can also be linked / Doing this will require you to have software that can make an animated gif image. / And of coarse I know of a free software program that can be used and this tutorial will explain how to do this using this free software. The free software is called / unfreeze and you can Get it here / Once downloaded and installed on your / computer we are ready to go. The first step is to get the images you want to include in your slide show, I am going to use my redbubble images set in frames for my bubblesite homepage. Sign-in to your redbubble account Click “My Bubble” then “Art” find the image you want to include and click the “show public view” Now click the “buy/preview” button / Select the product format you want to use Card, Laminated print, etc.. Then save the image to your computer. Internet Explorer users “Right Click” the image and select “Save Picture As” / Firefox users “Right Click” and select “Save image as” / And choose a location on your PC where you can find it easily. / You can use as many images as you want, but remember you want them to visit your gallery so keep the number of images to a minimum. / I’m going to use 8 images for now. / You can re size your images if you like the Unfreeze software will resize your images to fit in a 375 pixels(high) X 360 pixels(wide) box but the software will not center the image. For those that want their images centered in the box, Use your photo software to edit the images / The software program (unfreeze) that I recommended above requires the images to be in gif format. Doing this in your photo software may be different than mine. But I will open the image in my photo software “Paint.net” and then click the “Save as” option and change the format (type) to gif ( Graphics Interchange Format). They will be saved in the same folder that I put the ones I downloaded from the bubble. Once the images are in the gif format. We are ready to create the animated gif (slideshow) Open the folder where your gif images are located Start “unfreeze” a small window will appear / Drag your images into the white window Then set the delay on the right, I used 60, Make sure the “Loop animation” box is checked Now click the “Make Animated Gif” button Give it a name and Click “Save” To make the images change slower add more than one of the same file The image that I created here was made using three copies of the same image, delay set to 90 / Example: drag and drop “image1.gif”,then do it again drag and drop “image1.gif “ This one has four of the same images and delay set to 60 Now the image can be uploaded to a web site, since Redbubble does not support this file type. You can use “Dropbox” / which is a free file store, share, sync software Get it Here it allows you to have 2 gig of file storage for free. Plus when I change the slide show gif I just created dropbox will take care of the rest. / So changing my slide show is as easy as making a new one and saving it using the same location and name on my pc as the one I’m using now. / Now Insert the new image on your bubblesite or profile / Use the image location (web address, web url) with a ! before and after the image location / For more on Linking images etc. see this post How to Customize Redbubble / And your done. / You can also include these in your description boxes these have been reduced in size A great way to promote your calendars on your bubblesite remember these images can be linked to the buy page. / Happy Bubbling / Dan / Get the Firefox and Internet Explorer Tool bar for Redbubble Here / See more info See all my How-to’s Here Includes “Framed image on Bubblesite home page”, “Adding Calendars to your bubblesite”, “feedjit Live Traffic Feed”, “Using tags on Redbubble”, “Add a visitor counter to your bubblesite or profile page” and More © D R Moore This written work cannot be reproduced or posted on the web without my written permission

To all who have there own websites, I’m planning on updating mine. here it is in current bad format The current system is slow and cumbersome and I need to get the photo/image viewer up to scratch. I am a bad programmer and an even worse patience player so to have my own website using an image viewer that compares to a busted rotary slide projector I’m not too happy. Does anyone have any recommendations on this. I know there are a lot of recommended flash viewers or whatever. I do have a smug mug account as well but I’m looking to see if I need customised coding or just someone else to help develop this up. Thanks Michael.

Whilst some people talk of how much they dreaded and were bored by the traditional family slide night, I was always a fan of those evenings spent in a darkened lounge room, the curtains closed, watching colourful images from my parents’ and our collective family’s trips away. Whether photographs from the trip to the USA my parents took when my brothers and I were in early primary school; a trip that brought us each various souvenirs including t-shirts, before souvenir t-shirts became all post-modernist and declared themselves uncool (mine was from San Francisco and said “Go climb a street”). Or photographs from Antarctica and other strange far away places my Uncle John traveled to. Or even the photographs from the travels we three children ventured on with my parents around the Northern Territory when we lived in Darwin. Slide nights are up there in my list of favourite memories, along with nights spent lying rugged up on banana lounges in the backyard of my maternal grandparents’ house in Northbourne Avenue in Canberra whilst my Granddad pointed out constellations and my Grandma brought us out warm cups of Milo. The hum of the projector, the clacking of the slide tray turning or sliding as the corded remote was pressed, the delays when a slide got stuck or the attempt to go back to the previous slide caused a technical malfunction, and the dust particles floating around in the projector’s light. The projected images contained amusing memories of places we’d been, or acted as portals into intriguing places we hoped one day to go. And, of course, played an important part in inspiring my love of photography. For a couple of decades slide nights in our family died off. My parents, like most folk, started taking their holiday and family snaps with negative film instead of as transparencies; and the act of reliving our family holidays or experiencing each others’ was relegated to sitting around a table, possibly as a group, and passing around 6”x4” prints; or in the case of my photographs from the UK, viewed by my parents online long distance on my website. Perhaps, given that by this time there were five of us recording our holidays in photographic form, this was a good thing. However, with the advent of digital photography, “slide nights” are back with a vengeance in my parents’ house. Now they can be enjoyed in the morning and afternoon, not just the evening as they don’t require darkness; and there is (somewhat) less pfaffing with the cycle of images played through the DVD player. After viewing my parents’ photographs from their trip to Africa last year and from their travels around the Eastern Rockies, USA, in 2006, I persuaded them to set up a RedBubble account for their travel photography. You should check it out

For a long time now I’ve wanted to have a go at creating a video slide show. While I did have a quick dabble with Animoto a while back, and while it was fun, it wasn’t quite what I had in mind. I’ve wanted to be able to take a piece of music, ideally an instrumental, and try and weave my images around it. To this end I’ve spent some time, over the months, looking for instrumental tracks that I love and which are also licenced in a way that would permit using them as the backing of such a video. That was the really important part, that I was legally permitted to use the music. And then, last week, one of my favourite singer/songwriters released a couple of instrumental versions of her songs via her newsletter. She also said that anyone was permitted to use the music in other works as long as full and proper credit is given. One of the tracks was the instrumental of I’m Yours. I had to do something with that. And so, last Saturday night, I fired up Windows Movie Maker and started having a dabble. This is the result: And please, if you like the music, go visit Marian’s website and have a listen to her music. Better still, why not treat yourself to some of her music? Even better, if you’re looking for instrumental tracks that are licenced in a way that let’s you use them while passing on the news, why not join her mailing list and keep up with what she’s doing?
