Sometimes we can see a scene, place or even an object and it catches our attention, we know there is a photopgraph to be made there somehow – perhaps not there and then, maybe later that day or under a stormy wet sky. I had envisaged a composition at this location and walked there under various light several days in a row and it was not until this dusk with the soft light highlighting one of the rock slab out of what was to be ‘misty water’ that I decided this is how I could represent this work of nature. / / / / Canon EOS A2, Fuji Velvia 50. / ©T.Middleton2007 —-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—— / / / see more of seascape photography by clicking on the image below / /

This is the river Greta, behind me it meets the river Tees…. the water is so calm and you have to love those layered rocks..
This shot was the location I was aiming for when I took ‘Buffalo Dawn’ and ‘Above the clouds’. Unfortunately I missed the predawn light and consequently needed a two or three stop grad (I can’t remember now) to balance the exposure but the result is pleasing. This is the top of a huge cascade that plummets hundreds of meters down the buffalo slabs a magnificient spot I havn’t seen any other images from. This metal drain you can see here is at the foot of a morgue slab, the blood drain to take away the liquids when an autopsy was performed. At least, this is one of them, this is one of the few asylums with more than one slab, again testament to just how many people were at this site.
As you might have noticed, if there is a mortuary slab on an explore you can pretty much guarantee that it is going to get photographed. This one was no exception, even though i have photos of it from a previous visit to this site they had been in the darkness as previous explores here were 2am attacks, so i thought one in the daylight could be good.

Shot @ Duranbah, Gold Coast, Australia.
The 11th century crypt under the cathedral of Lund, Sweden, contains beautiful graves of medieval bishops and noblemen and women.
The original photo was taken in Glacier National Park, a photo of a slab of sedimentary rock that was once the bottom of a shallow seabed about 1 billion years ago. At that time the only life on Earth was algae. Featured in Visual Textures group, September 2009. Photomanipulation with Photoshop. Original photography with a Nikon P80.
