  • Photosynthesis With my arms extended towards the source, the soul grows and conscience is expanded. Perhaps plants are not the only ones who are fed by the sun, the substract of photosynthesis. Contemplating and capturing sceneries like this one, is probably an equally powerful photosynthetic process that makes the earth go round each day… José Ramos

  • The sun slowly sets over the Appalachians of the Smoky Mountains bringing the end to the day. Shot was taken from the Clingmans Dome Parking lot in the Great Smoky Mountain National Park !

  • Storm meets the sun at Blairgowrie beach, Mornington Peninsula, Australia.

  • Queens Parade, South Melbourne

  • Seastorm off Bundeena Cliffs in Royal National Park just south of Sydney Australia. Taken using the brilliant Startrails Photoshop Action to blend 15 X 30sec identical exposures. You can download the Action from here: / http://www.schursastrophotography.com/software/photoshop/startrails.html If you view in Large mode you can see startrails between the clouds. Also the short horizontal light along the horizon is a fishing trawler. Funnily enough there was an average of only one lightning bolt per exposure. / I’ve now photographed 5 storms off these cliffs and the really curious thing I’ve noticed is that the lightning always seems to concentrate in the same places – here and about another 45 degrees to the right along the horizon. I know now that if I set my camera up here or at the other angle I’m always going to get the best lightning shots – weird or what? I would have thought the lightning strikes would be much more random than that.

  • A composite. Clouds and balloon blended in Photoshop. Used HDR processing to achieve the deep contrasts and applied some sepia tone. Used flood to add the water and Terragen for the mountains. • Another shot at Point Lonsdale, Australia. The colours only lasted a moment, fired as many shots as i could in the hope that one would turn out well. / I often hear people say ‘yeah, but its photoshopped’. While i’ve had to adjust brightness and contrast on a computer, the colours come from shooting at the right time.

  • FEATURED BY: 1 DSLR Users Only – 1/24 2 YOU’RE ACCEPTED 3 Mountains and Mountain Light KANSAS-All We Are is Dust In The Wind UNTOUCHED NIKON D60 18-55 mm. Lens:18-55mm F/3,5-5,6G / Focal Length:31mm / Aperture:F/11 / Shutter Speed:1/320s / Sensitivity:ISO 100 October 2008 / Today it was 04:00 am and we were on the way to climb for an hour by car then ofcourse by walk with the equipments around 2 hrs.. I began to climb when we got the region..And then, I climbed around 5000 ft.. Then the mist began.. So I had to stop climbing cause it was getting risky and I dont like making mistakes “in purpose”.. I waited around 10 mins but saw the mist was coming up on me.. So I gave up and decided to go back down.. :)) This time it didnt want me to climb.. So I got back and after 5 mins, storm began with the wind.. :(( (anyways, I did the right ) / In this week we will try again and again… Although we get the forecast from the satellite, it doesnt somehow match (or it changes too fast) :)) I keep posting them in serie :) / This one is one of the first shots when I got to region.. / Well I keep trying :)) TAke Care All :)) / Region Arhavi -TURKEY / October 2008 I HAVE TWO MORE ACCOUNTS / Digital is only for digital paints and HDR is only for HDR merged as is shots… If you would like to see them as well here are the links:

  • Taken on Saturday evening, February 7th, near Geelong after a day of record-breaking temperatures (47.6 C or 118 F) and, tragically, the worst bushfires in our state’s history with towns virtually wiped out, hundreds of homes lost and, as I write, a death toll of 28 which is expected to rise when rescuers enter areas which were unreachable during the firestorm. I felt voyeuristic and very sad capturing this brilliant sunset caused by so much disaster just a hundred or so kilometres away. I only hope that those who are missing are found alive and that those who have suffered tragedy will somehow find the strength to rebuild their lives. A testament to my elderly parents who lost their home and everything they owned in the 1983 Ash Wednesday bushfires and a tribute to their resilience in starting again.

  • Sunset at the Curracurrang, just south of Wattamolla, Royal National Park. This is a wild and very rugged section of the Park with amazing rock formations and striations, none of which you can see here because it’s late dusk. But this evening had one of the most spectacular sunsets I’ve seen here in the Park. I don’t know why but good sunsets here are few and far between but when they come – carumba! / The sea wash looked pearl-like against an opalescent sky with the cliffs stringing in between like a necklace. Whoops, waxing lyrical, better stop. Two blended exposures – one for the sky and one for everything else. Taken with the old Canon 30D / Tv: 1.6secs and 1/4sec / Av: f/8 / ISO: 100 / FL: 28mm

  • This is the Sunset on the 24th seen from the rocks around the Newcastle Salt water Baths. This HDR image was made from a raw image and processed in Photomatix Pro 3. The sky was amazing beautiful colours and a great reflection in the rock pools. The clouds to the right of the image was a storm that was hammering the Nelson bay region. • Dance to the End of Time / Dance to the End of Time #2 Another one from the archives that I didn’t get around to posting. I shot this 3 years ago in winter under a full moon at about midnight at Lake Eucumbene in the Snowy Mountains, Australia. This was my first shoot outside at night in winter. It was minus 5 degrees and when I got back home and my fingers started to thaw out I couldn’t believe the pain – Lesson 1 for winter night shots – wear mittens at the very least! / These trees were drowned along with a whole valley to create a man-made lake as part of a hydro scheme in the 1950s. They resurfaced as a result of a drought we’d been having for the last few years courtesy of global warming. Canon 30D / Tv: 30 secs / Av: f/3.5 / ISO: 800
