Viewed from Southbank on the Yarra River one hour after sunset. Yep this is a moonrise, not a sunrise. I’ve never seen such an orange moon rising as on this night. This is one photo from a sequence of 135 I shot of the moonrise, which I’ve turned into a timelapse – you can see one hour of moonrise in 30 seconds here And can I also get your help? I can’t make up my mind which crop I like best so can you tell me whether you like #1, #2, or #3 and I’ll post the most popular up. Taken at Wottamolla Cliffs, Royal National Park just south of Sydney Canon 1Ds MkIII / Tv: 20secs / Av: 3.5 / ISO: 400 / FL: 35mm (plus cropped)
Up early in anticipation of dawn over Ben More in the scottish highlands but things soon went downhill as low grey cloud arrived bringing another day of scotch mist… That was the last we saw of any sunlight for those few days but it was great walking weather nonetheless!

Background Information: / A wind turbine is a rotating machine which converts the kinetic energy in wind into mechanical energy. If the mechanical energy is used directly by machinery, such as a pump or grinding stones, the machine is usually called a windmill. If the mechanical energy is then converted to electricity, the machine is called a wind generator, wind turbine, wind power unit (WPU), wind energy converter (WEC),or aerogenerator. This article discusses electric power generation machinery. Windmill discusses machines used for grain-grinding, water pumping, etc. The article on wind power describes turbine placement, economics and public concerns. The wind energy section of that article describes the distribution of wind energy over time, and how that affects wind-turbine design. See environmental concerns with electricity generation for discussion of environmental problems with wind-energy production. Getting out of the fixed tripod and the macro lense, a different perspective from from my Canon with ultra wide angle lense 8-) I was about to return home late afternoon few days back, on my bike when I decided to stop and shoot this roadside view in late afternoon. I had spotted it in the morning while going to my factory but the tree was not making the impact. On returning to home it was other side I found more impressive. Hope you all will find some afternoon deLIGHT. Visit my Bubblesite for comprehensive viewing of my images. Equipment : Canon EOS 400D

On the second day we were in Punta Cana, a storm rolled in and eventually turned the horizon black. This was taken about an hour before but the warning of wind, rain and darkness were already present in the early afternoon. A very loose watercolour using minimal detail and bright colours for a group challenge, 20cm x 28cm on 300gsm canson paper.
