We all know that the sun and the moon will never met being on opposite position but what if….. / A double layers. / Friends at last ,they meet on the cosy clouds and stay friends forever. / This idea came to me from a song that my mother used to sing when I was young about a rendez-vous between the moon and the sun that never happenned because the two of them were always waiting for one another.Charles Trenet,my mom’s idole was singing that song… / «Le soleil a rendez-vous avec la lune mais la lune n’est pas là et le soleil l’attend »A wonderful card to say that nothing is impossible when you’re in love. / / / / /

Photosynthesis With my arms extended towards the source, the soul grows and conscience is expanded. Perhaps plants are not the only ones who are fed by the sun, the substract of photosynthesis. I shot this just a few moments before dawn off the Bundeena Cliffs at Royal NP just south of Sydney and a 15 minute walk from where I live. / This section of coast in Royal is just magnificent and I keep getting drawn back to it night and day – can’t imagine how many hours I’ve spent up here just sitting and gazing out to sea or taking pics. There are actually some hermit dwellings built into the side of the cliffs during the 1930’s Depression which are now derelict. I can fully understand why people built them. Wouldn’t mind setting up residence myself (but I love my running hot and cold water too much lol). Tv: 1/6 sec / Av: f/ll / ISO: 100 / FL: 10mm / Canon 30D

The sun slowly sets over the Appalachians of the Smoky Mountains bringing the end to the day. Shot was taken from the Clingmans Dome Parking lot in the Great Smoky Mountain National Park !

Taking a few minutes before my “Days End”. The colors are much cooler showing why these are known as the lower Blue Ridge Mountains. The foggy mist is why these particular mountains became known as the Smokys the colors and layers of ridges drew me to this shot. So often in making sunset/sunrise shots photographers shoot one or two shots and move on. This time of day is one of rapidly changing tones. Some of the most dramatic shots can be made after most have left or got there. When the clouds are illuminated by the sun after/before it has pasted the horizon. Those photographers willing to slow down an spend some time will be the ones fully enjoying this time of day when the warm/cool colors met, mingle, and drift apart. As you can see between the 2 shots 2 minutes make a dramatic difference. Dawn at Garie Beach in Royal NP just south of Sydney Australia. / Being near an international airport is a bugger for night shots but it does tend to make the dawns just that much more spectacular. This is the vapour trail from a dawn takeoff. I like the way the sun looks anchored by its own light while the light from the vapour trail soars. / What a magic morning this was. Got a bunch of shots I was happy with and then after taking them I decided to wander over to the rock platform just next to the sun in this shot to watch the rest of the sunrise. There were about a dozen fishermen silhouetted against this sun with orange waves breaking over the rock platform in front of them. Just when I thought it couldn’t get any better two huge whales surfaced right in front of where I was sitting – about 100m offshore. Everyone stopped what they were doing and just watched their graceful rise and fall through the water, spouting their breath mist against the dawn. It was actually good to have the camera packed away and just to sit and watch.

This skyscape has always inspired me, since I sighted it. This one was difficult too, as correct balance of colors was difficult due to vividity. The setting Sun hidden behind the clouds and the evening is on the door steps, giving a wide range of availability to work on again. Most of the times we used to get biased with the earlier impression of the form as the BEST & coming out of the blues becomes very difficult. I took almost 2 months to come out of it. I’d like to be able to say that when I was composing this shot I saw the plane taking off out of frame and worked out its trajectory would take it just over th e sun as it was rising, but I can’t :-(. Truth is I was so focussed on the rising sun I didn’t even notice the plane til I downloaded the shot and started working on it. So this is actually a tiny crop of the original landscape orientation I shot it in. One of those serendipitous moments you don’t even notice at the time. Taken from Bundeena Cliffs, Royal National Park just a few moments after Streaming to the Dawn. Another stumble upon going through the archives. Canon 30D / Tv: 1/15sec / Av: f/11 / ISO: 100

I love sun rays and yesterday the clouds arrived so I decided to burn my retina and shoot towards the sun. Nikon D40 18-55mm with circular polarising filter. Artistic filter add in PSP as there was slight pixalation which I wanted to get rid of!

Featured in Dimensions – November 2009 / Featured in Light In The Darkness – August 2009 This one was taken on the 22nd of August 2009 from Elephant Rock at Currumbin beach – a sunrise no photograph can describe. Shot using a 450D with a Sigma 10-20 at 10mm. 3 shots – 13s, 2.5s and 1s exposures using F/22 and Iso 100. Exposure blending using Photomatix and processed in CS4. Big thanks to Stef Dunn for the loan of his Sigma lens for the day, and also to Shelley Warbrooke for doing a splendid job on keeping me awake for the drive! 1000+ views! / 50+ favourites! / My Images Do Not Belong To The Public Domain.
