Bald Eagles live near large bodies of open water such as lakes, marshes, seacoasts and rivers, where there are plenty of fish to eat and tall trees for nesting and roosting. Bald Eagles have a presence in every U. S. state except Hawaii. Bald Eagles use a specific territory for nesting, winter feeding or a year-round residence. Its natural domain is from Alaska to Baja, California, and from Maine to Florida. Bald Eagles that reside in the northern U. S. and Canada migrate to the warmer southern climates of the U. S. during the winter to obtain easier access to food, especially fish. Some Bald Eagles that reside in the southern U. S. migrate slightly north during the hot summer months.

WILD AND FREE / / On the last morning of our Arctic trip we had a few hours to spend in Longyearbyen before our departure. We went for a walk along the shore and came across these Arctic Terns. They were very protective and dived bombed everyone. This image was taken with a 10mm lens – so he was pretty close! (Spitzbergen – Scandinavian Arctic) /

This pelican was resting on a bolard at the Crowdy Head Jetty. As I walked towards him, he took to flight. My apologies if he is a she! Crowdy Head is on the East Coast of Australia, north of Sydney and east of Taree. It has a small harbour, and a village of about 50 houses. / Nikon D40x. Ningaloo Reef in Western Australia is the largest fringing reef in the world and the only reef system on the western side of a continent. The coral emerges from the deep blue up to the oceans surface. Inside the reef are pristine lagoons with coral and abundant marine life, easily accessible of the beach with a few metres swimming. For those familiar with Ningaloo Reef – you can see turquoise bay at the far left of the image. This photo was taken on an exceptionally calm day out of a microlight aircraft. I’ve done aerial photography here before out of a ‘normal’ plane but this experience left me speechless.
