  • The premise behind this series is that, regardless of what we do, where we go, how high we build, how big our cities become and how claustrophobic our lives get, above us all is that wide open space- and that will never change.

  • The dry lake bed of Emerald Lake. At the far end you can just about see where the water has retreated to. Emerald Lake (after 2 yrs of no rain), Nilgiris, India Nikon D80 / Sigma 10-20 @ 10mm / f/9; 1/125sec; ISO 100 / Hoya CPL

  • Technical: / Camera: Olympus E-510 / Lens: Olympus 14-42 F3.5-5.6 / F-Stop: F/22 / Shutter: 1/50 sec / ISO: 100 / Mode: Aperture Priority / Bracketing: -1.0, 0.0, +1.0 Processing: / HDR: Brightness +23 Clarify +12 / Levels: Blacks +20 / Contrast: + 8 / Saturation: + 10 Description: / This particular open area has many moods, depending on time of day and lighting. I chose this area to work on composition because of it’s moodiness, there had been a recent rain, and there was a mixture of clouds and sun. The aim was simplicity. I’ve been getting in the habit of bracketing, so fortunately I had an underexposed, overexposed and normal exposure. I decided to use HDR to capture the widest range of shadows, mid-tones, and highlights possible. Your assessment is greatly appreciated and I would like to thank you in advance. I would also greatly appreciate and thoughts on what you might have done differently.

  • My grandson visited with us for a couple of weeks, and we had such fun boat riding. It was his first ride in a pontoon boat, and he loved sitting at the rear of the boat to watch the wake created by the motor’s action in the water. Taken with a Nikon 14-24 mm wide angle lens; Nikon D700 camera.

  • Brilliant blue skies, laced with fluffy white clouds, contrast with the wide, open expanses of green fields below make for an idyllic scene in this image. Captured with a Canon Rebel XSi in southern Alberta, near Lethbridge, Alberta, Canada.

  • Dawn yesterday morning at Mt Clear in the Namadgi NP. My helpful assistant was up with me watching the sunrise. This is a three frame HDR … I took another couple of series of the sunrise (as you do…) but I really liked this one with my assistant in frame … it lends a sense of scale to the place …that’s him in the colourful beanie in lower left ;) ... it was a superb day too :)

  • I’ve been driving past that old, rusty, yellow ‘control tower’ near a light air craft strip for years. This is were the pilots hang out during Whale Shark Season when they do the spotting of the sharks and scenic flights. The light was right and I wanted do add a little more drama using a 15mm lens. Would make an excellent film set. Location: North West Cape, Western Australia Equipment: CANON 5D Mk II, SIGMA 15-30mm Image was featured in Canon DSLR – THIS IS AUSTRALIA – Australian Travel Photography and Writing Framing suggestion: / © aabz-imaging / ALL RIGHTS RESERVED

  • ....Probably one of my all times faves of mine. I’d been trying to capture the photo in my mind of this place for months. Finally, it came together. :)
