Greetings watchers and welcome to Boreas Pass, Colorado at 11,481 feet high in altitude! This place is just magical….the wildflower fields go on forever…..and it is total serenity…no one around at all. Silence, among the high peaks. Gorgeous to say the least. You honestly feel like you are in heaven up here…on top of the world….where the air is so utterly fresh and the smell of the wildflowers is hypnotizing! You literally just stand in complete and total awe. Take it all in and breath….and the one thing I personally am proud of about this shot is how I was able to get that lighting! I am not sure of the peak here… Wikipedia has a nice page up about Boreas Pass Interesting lil facts on there like “The pass was formerly known as Breckenridge Pass in the 1860s” Was just informed on Naturephotographers.net from some of my fellow Colorado Photographers, that this is Quandary Peak Minolta 5D / Minolta 18-200 DT Lens / Singh-Ray CPL / Dynatran 858 Tripod Thoughts most welcomed / —-—-—-—-—-—-— / More of my work can be seen on my website at http://jdebordphoto.com / All artwork is © John De Bord, All Rights Reserved. “The Road To Home” Ya know, sometimes I just sit in amazement when I am shooting and just look, gaze, and take it all in…..if photography has honestly taught me anything, it’s to see better, noticing things you normally wouldn’t even see. Case in point, this shot here. Most people probably just drive on by this place never giving it a second glance, but to me, it was something very special…...so special that I spent about 30 minutes here shooting it. Living in Colorado really has it’s benefits this time of the year…as Autumn sets in and the sun goes south, the light becomes so utterly magical, thanks to our elevation. It becomes so warm and saturated in the morning, that everything seems so alive….so gold. Captured on a rural backroad between Boulder and Lyons, the old road leading to cattle pastures I felt made a very worthy subject, especially considering the colors involved, the light, and the overall composition with the tree. Let me know what ya all think! / —-John —-—-—-—-—-—-— / More of my work can be seen on my website at http://jdebordphoto.com / All artwork is © John De Bord, All Rights Reserved. I love photographing in bad weather, there is just something about the drama of it all that amazes me, and this was of no exception. Garden of the Gods outside of Colorado Springs is the location, a place which, is simply magical and unlike anywhere else on Earth…the light here is the best I have ever seen, and even when there is none, it still holds it own. Captured this past early spring, where at the higher elevations the clouds brought snow, but where I was at, it was rain. Processed in HDR with final output through PS. / Thoughts welcomed! —-—-—-—-— See more on my website jdebordphoto.com / All artwork is © John De Bord, All Rights Reserved. Dawn at Garie Beach in Royal NP just south of Sydney Australia. / Being near an international airport is a bugger for night shots but it does tend to make the dawns just that much more spectacular. This is the vapour trail from a dawn takeoff. I like the way the sun looks anchored by its own light while the light from the vapour trail soars. / What a magic morning this was. Got a bunch of shots I was happy with and then after taking them I decided to wander over to the rock platform just next to the sun in this shot to watch the rest of the sunrise. There were about a dozen fishermen silhouetted against this sun with orange waves breaking over the rock platform in front of them. Just when I thought it couldn’t get any better two huge whales surfaced right in front of where I was sitting – about 100m offshore. Everyone stopped what they were doing and just watched their graceful rise and fall through the water, spouting their breath mist against the dawn. It was actually good to have the camera packed away and just to sit and watch.

A rock’s eye view of the loch of lowes – I think this has a certain messy charm compared with the more pristine perfection of ‘loch of the lowes’ or ‘LoL’ Let me know what you think – comments and tips most welcome Loch of the Lowes lies in the beautiful scottish borders between Moffat and Selkirk. It flows into nearby St Mary’s loch (with its thriving sailing club) past old Tibbieshiels inn, hostelry and overnight stop for walkers on the southern upland way crossing Scotland. Overlooking the north end of the loch is a monument to James Hogg – the Scottish Poet known as the Etterick Shepherd, friend and contemporary of Sir Walter Scott. Taken 4/3/08 (untouched) with a pocket fuji finepix A500 (there is a 2nd loch of the lowes further north in Perthshire, complete with osprey viewing centre – but you can see the wonderful fish eagle hunting here too if you are lucky!) loch of the lowes’ : ‘LoL’ : / ‘i am a rock’ : /
A tranquil sunrise at Wattamolla, Royal National Park just south of Sydney. / People have asked me how I got the radiant effect from the sun. Simple – just pointed the camera at it lol. The flare comes from the sun’s’ rays hitting the lens at nearly 90 degrees and then the blades of the aperture diaphragm inside the camera splitting it up. Least that’s what I’ve been told so if anyone has a better explanation I’d love to hear it. If you like this one you might like to check out a bigger Radiance:
The little jetty, trees and shoreline, just below the Charlemont homestead are all mirrored in the waters of Thompsons Creek, in the stillness of the morning, just after dawn.

Dawn light in the tiny and soon to be bustling turkish port of Orhaniye. A more tranquil and less melancholy feel to this one taken after end of the line For a glimpse of the breakfast bustle I returned to after this tranquil start to the day see unimpressed
“Clouds on the Water, Fire Near the Sky” / Purchase a Mouse Pad of this image I happened onto this gorgeous sunrise over the White River at a time when the water was at its lowest. I was delighted to catch the calm surface for reflections, as the low rising sun was casting its first orange glow over the autumn colors.

Sutton Bank is a high vantage point at the very edge of the Hambleton Hills and the North York Moors with extensive views over the Vale of York and the Vale of Mowbray. Because of its location and high elevation, Sutton Bank is popular with gliding and flying enthusiasts. Predominant landmarks include Whitestone Cliff and Roulston Scar, the former overlooking the mysterious (and reputedly bottomless !) Lake Gormire. Close nearby are the villages of Sutton-under-Whitestonecliff, and Kilburn (famous for the White Horse of Kilburn, and Robert Thompson – the “Mouseman” of Kilburn). / Sutton Bank is one of the most spectacular inland cliffs anywhere in Britain, and carries one of the most hair-raising main roads in the country. The near vertical drop from top to bottom is around 140 metres, and crosses at least two major geological boundaries. / The Sutton Bank National Park Centre is on the western edge of the fabulous North York Moors National Park – home to the largest expanse of heather moorland in England.
