Early sunrise shot of the pool. Just so happen that there was A LOT OF blue bottle jellyfish washing up so i had to do a bid of dodging about taking this shot….No harm done!!!
Sydney, Long Reef is a protected marine reserve with rock shelves that extend out about 200m into the sea. We were lucky to have a beautiful cloud and still water reflecting of it. Shot with Cokin Z-Pro Tobacco Filter to give it a mood. The normal image tho looks good are just to wash out and unattractive, so i strap a filter on. Gum Boots is essential for early Sydney Sea Side shoot – unless you want wan mild frostbite at the end of the morning…eiei. Mind you i usually go shoe less in Summer…ahhaha…feel the water. 0.04 sec (1/25) | f/6.3 | 10 mm | ISO: 100 | Bias: 1 +EV | Shade WB / www.hangingpixels.com
Here is a dragon on the Sydney Opera House Roof
Taken at Norah Head, two hours north of Sydney on the Central Coast of New South Wales. Beautiful little place =) the lighthouse there is too cute.
Taken looking south to Wollongong from Providential Point, Royal National Park, just south of Sydney Australia. / This is my first attempt at a multi-exposure blend. This image is a combinations of 57 X 30sec exposures using the fantastic Startrails Photoshop Action that you can download free from this excellent site: / www.schursastrophotography.com/software/photoshop/startra… I was put on to this action by Dave Burrow whose amazing startrails image can be seen here: / http://www.redbubble.com/people/davidburrows/art/321722-3-startrails The brilliant thing about this PS action is that the longest exposure you need to take is 30sec and so it virtually eliminates the noise problem of conventional long exposure startrails. You can imagine how much noise this shot would have as a 30min exposure. / The straight lines are some of 9 planes that flew through these exposures over the half-hour I was taking them – amazingly consistent flight paths. It got so busy I had to delete some of the planetrails, hence the little gaps in the startrails.
Taken on a beautiful evening at Wattamolla in Royal NP just south of Sydney Australia. This is the upper Wattamolla Creek falls on the way to Marley Beach. Canon 30D / Tv – 1sec-30sec / Av – f/8 / ISO – 400 / FL – 21mm / Circular Polarising Filter
Dawn at Garie Beach in Royal NP just south of Sydney Australia. / Being near an international airport is a bugger for night shots but it does tend to make the dawns just that much more spectacular. This is the vapour trail from a dawn takeoff. I like the way the sun looks anchored by its own light while the light from the vapour trail soars. / What a magic morning this was. Got a bunch of shots I was happy with and then after taking them I decided to wander over to the rock platform just next to the sun in this shot to watch the rest of the sunrise. There were about a dozen fishermen silhouetted against this sun with orange waves breaking over the rock platform in front of them. Just when I thought it couldn’t get any better two huge whales surfaced right in front of where I was sitting – about 100m offshore. Everyone stopped what they were doing and just watched their graceful rise and fall through the water, spouting their breath mist against the dawn. It was actually good to have the camera packed away and just to sit and watch.
Captured in the cold dark waters of Blue Mountains’ Grand Canyon, near the main abseil. Timing is everything!
Merimbula is on the east coast of Australia between Sydney and Melbourne.
this is the next in my current series of uploads. All of these IR landscapes were were shot at the old Reshes site on Lachlan street in Sydney some years back when it was being demolished. I took quite a lot of photo’s of the site over a period of time but waited till the sky was just so to use the infrared film…... it just seems to bring out all the latent drama trapped within the mundane….

Sydneys’ Iconic Opera House, early evening, and the parties are starting to fire up. Thanks to a 30th Birthday on the night, the front of the western side was nice and colourful :) Canon 50D 10mm.
Featured in Extreme Weather Group Featured in CanonDSLR Group Featured in Lightening and Storms Group Featured in Severe Weather Group Taken just after sunset, on March 25th 2009, in Berowra NSW Australia. This storm cell moved from West in the Blue mountains in a Easterly direction, just to the South of me, so I was able to watch it track from the mountains across to Sydney. The lightening was amazing, what would start as a flicker would then continue to branch out across the cloud, not going downwards as usual, it appeared to start at the bottom of the cloud and spread like tentacles across the storm cell. Canon 5D / ISO – 50 / f/5.6 / 8s / 22mm focal length Wikipaedia: / Another terminology used for cloud-cloud or cloud-cloud-ground lightning is “Anvil Crawler”, due to the habit of the charge typically originating from beneath or within the anvil and scrambling through the upper cloud layers of a thunderstorm, normally generating multiple branch strokes which are dramatic to witness. These are usually seen as a thunderstorm passes over the observer or begins to decay. The most vivid crawler behaviour occurs in well developed thunderstorms that feature extensive rear anvil shearing. /

Yesterday morning residents in Sydney, Australia woke up to an unusual sight and for those who were armed with cameras, a unique opportunity for some amazing photographs. Images of red and orange dust filled skies have been flashing across news channels worldwide in the past 24 hours and some of our own photographers were lucky enough to have their cameras at the ready. To mark such an unusual event, we thought we’d feature a mini gallery of some of the images you captured: Sydney dust storm like Mars (BBC) Dust storm whips Sydney; flight chaos (China Daily) Dust Storm Shrouds Sydney (New York Times) Dust storm blankets Australian cities in red haze (CNN) If you captured any images of the dust storm, in Sydney or other locations that were affected, we’d love to see them. Please feel free to share your images in the comments below. Nat See here for instructions on how to post your images in the comments.
