Molly the Lil Witch, A Heidi for Oscar by Paul Rees-Jones Well You have heard the tale of Molly the witch, / And the doll folk she made in a pinch. The story doesn’t end quite there, / Cause Oscar needed someone fair. Molly’s heart went out to her lovesick little man, / She asked Oscar to put some stuffing in her hand. She used it to make a wonderful girl, / With a cute smile and hair without curls. She called her Heidi and Oscar just stared, / Molly could see how much he cared. Ophelia, was not too impressed / To her this girl was a complete mess. Already she saw her brother’s love show, / Unfortunately for Heidi, she had to go. Ophelia worked out 22 tries, / knowing one would spell that Heidi’s demise. and so we shall wait and see what transpires, / As Ophelia prepares balloons, pits, spikes, and fires.

Now you can purchase this design on a variety of new products including tote bags, cards, ties and even postage stamps! Check it out here! Sweet Annabelle by Paul Rees-Jones A little girl, not exactly alive, / Wandering around in her own way. / A little girl, not exactly warm, / Looking for some ghoulish play. She calls to her friends… / “Let’s play Hide and Bleak!” / Her friends say no, / Cause she never seeks. She calls to her friends… / “Let’s play sticks and stones!” / her friends say no / Cause she loves breaking bones. She calls to her friends… / “Let’s play tie you up tag!” / Her friends say no, / One always leaves in a body bag. She sighs and wails, / As only she can. / And ponders her plight, / And ponders a plan. She knows she can be / A bit of a sweet pain / But her friends should love her / All the same. So if they don’t / Come out to play. / She go get them / And they’ll rule the day. Sweet Annabelle…

I did this piece very quickly . It was drawn at A3 size. Scanned in and colored at 600dpi. It’s full of detail and includes dome of my favorite things in the world around me. I’ve entered it into a local exhibition competition. There was no theme other than giving designers a chance to express themselves anyway they want to. The greatest and most perfect designs are all around us. The animals, the plants, the mountains…everything that is naturally formed. These are the things I admire the most. The beauty of fauna and flora, the dead or alive. Perfect and not by design…it just is. Play and Worship

Lainers the Happy Lil Dead Girl by Paul Rees-Jones She floats around the light, / That shining orb so bright. She knows its ringing call, / But doesn’t want it at all. Skin so white, cheeks pink and red, / Content in being the living dead. Her friends are cold, just like her, / Living and playing, just like they were. And oh the joy of pranks and scares, / To those who trespass without cares. Moaning and groaning like a ghost, / Is something she like the most. Flying free, spinning in a whirl, / Lainers the happy lil dead girl.

Ink, tea, watercolour and pencil on paper. / Drawing I did whilst reading Wicked by Gregory Maguire. / When the Wizard of Oz first appears he is really a strange visual paradox – grand and terrifying but also ridiculously phony and, frankly, a little tacky.
