Ho’okipa Beach is world renowned as one of the international surfing capitals of the world. It is here you may see professionals from many countries around the world as well as many talented locals competing and enjoying this wonderful watersport. With a slight adjustment in Curves, I reset the White Balance to reveal the brilliant cloudless blue sky and a slight adjustment in Contrast. No Saturation. This is true colour on a bright and shiny summer day here on the island. As I look at some of the stunning images out there I realize that I am a neophyte by comparison. That is not necessarily all that bad because I now have the joy of learning how to improve each shot. Most of my earlier digital cameras were so limited in the quality of the image they could produce this was my main limitation as a photographer. Just trying to coax a reasonable image out of these cameras was a daunting task. The Nikon D5000 may be considered by most to be an ‘entry level’ prosumer camera but the difference between it and my earlier cameras is remarkable. For the first time I can take extremely sharp closeups and even freeze the motion of a hummingbird’s wings if I choose to do so. Now I am the main limitation! I am learning a little more each day, though, and my photographs should benefit as a result. It would be nice one day to say that the camera is limiting me and not the other way around. This is a very exciting time for me as a photographer. I so want each shot to be special. I suppose this is the neverending quest for perfection that one never quite reaches but still strives for.

When we came through the starportal to SP19879, we found a world devoid of life. / The only sign that life had been here were the two towers, one was obviously very ancient, whereas the other tower could almost have been built yesterday. / After a number of days of study Dr. Kartos & Jaksom thought they were both a kind of matter transference machine.And maybe the older one did not work. Of course Dr. Jaksom wanted to put it to use right away, and I had to almost stun him to keep him from using it, I decided more study was needed!
