An old snow shack at Silverstar in Canada. Other images from Silverstar: Return to Silverstar / More winter images
This was one of the most bizzare natural occurences ive seen. On a day skiing at Big Mountain, Montana, USA, there was a lot of ice crystals floating in the air at the top of the mountain, like skiing thru bubbling champagne or something! in one particular area, the sun reflected of these crystals creating a reflection of the sun down in the trees. amazing day. more pics to come.
View from Silverstar ski resort Canada, taken just as the sun peeked through the clouds. Other images from Silverstar: Silverstar #2 / Snow Shack / More winter images

Watsons Crags are in Kosciuszko National Park and in my opinion is the most spectacular alpine ridge line in Australia. On this particular occassion I had spent the day skiing out from Thredbo to camp at the frozen Lake Albina on a spectacular little knoll overlooking the Crags. This shot was taken halfway through dinner at my personal restaurant. The heater at the restaurant was pathetic, but the view… For other shots from this area check out my Kosciuszko gallery. Osphre soaring past palm trees, after his morning fishing. Notice the surprised fish he’s hold in his claws. Beautiful sunrise morning skys were as taken off my balcony on Fripp Island, SC. This composition was created from two images which were put together in photoshop using layers and extraction functions. Canon 5D, 75-300 zoom
As I originally only had a small piece of sky when I was fiddling with the extract tool, I have now redone this picture, using a bigger and new piece of sky! Sunrise on the ocean, is a beautiful look with the mist rising and the sky and sea taking on the colors of the sun. Get up before 5 and take a walk if you live near a beach, it’s so worth it. Hunting Island State Park, Beaufort SC Camera, Canon 5D / Digitally enhanced photography / © M. Campbell
After the first time he beat me to the top, I captuered my younger brother gazing over the valley which we called home for so long. Taken in the Arapaho National Forest – Dillon, Colorado, U.S.A.
This is a picture of my brother and myself with our first surfboard. (well, OK, it was really his but I had to help carry it.) We both learned to surf on it, and had a trailer made for our pushbikes to get it down to the beach. / The lettering has been subtly “aged” by overlaying it with scanned cotton knit jersey fabric texture and dropping out the colour.
The highest peak in the alps around Val Gardena, Italy (also known as Groedn, Austria. It’s a World War I thing. Language-wise, the area is if anything more German/Austrian). The view from the Marmolada was pretty staggering, the altitude was high, the ski back to the chairlift long, and (after I mistakenly skied past the chairlift) the challenge of getting back to the hotel before the whole region shut down was intense. And although I failed to make it back all the way and had to settle on a taxi, the photo was arguably worth it. It also achieves a rare (though dubious) personal photographic honor. For the last three ski trips, my favourite mountain photo has been my computer’s desktop theme for more or less a full year until the next ski trip. And this is the one for 2009. Below : the one for 2008: / Below : the one for 2007: / (interestingly, the ones for 2007 and 2008 were both taken on cheap Nikon point-and-shoot digital cameras. 2009 was taken on a Pentax DSLR. Which proves that even cheap point-and-shoots are no slouches in the right conditions)
