If you have never seen the tulip fields in the Skagit Valley, in Northern Washington, you have missed an amazing sight. Once a year, during the blooming season, the growers open the fields to visitors and there is a big celebration. I am going this year with a group of photographers, so watch for even better photos.

This photo was taken on May 12, 2008, up in the Skagit Valley in Washington. Every year the fields in the valley are rows and rows of tulips. But this year the festival and blooming was delayed due to bad weather. The festival was last weekend and we wer hoping the fields would still be in bloom. Instead they had been already plowed under. One bulb company still had the gardens open and this was one variety I was able to get a photo of.
