  ‘I’ll get even with you for this.’ He called after her. ‘I’ll see you cut down to size one day.’

  I wrote ‘Cut down to size’ many years ago and it has never been published. The publishers I normally use in fact turned me down on this because there was an actual event just like it which happened at that time. I don’t want to play on others misery and I hope this won’t offend anyone as it is purely fictional work from my mixed up mind. Thank you for reading it and any comments will be gratefully received.   The moment of inspiration happened when I was looking across my friend’s work portfolio and saw this close up picture of a horse. You may wonder how come a picture of a horse inspired the poem above. Well, I thought about this moment when one person looks at another and a range of thoughts pass through. A lot happens in that moment… and this poem is just about that moment. I did want to add a twist in the end, by taking the poem to a new level. They say God is present in every thing, small or big. And so, I thought, do we, as mere mortals, know in the first instant, when the impression gets made, that we are looking at an exceptional person? There goes…
