Mt. Edgecumbe, a small volcano off the coast of Sitka Alaska is rarely visible and certainly in my 20 years of traveling up there I have never once seen the sun set over Edgecumbe like this. Truly inspiring light!

Klootchy Creek Giant – aka the Seaside Spruce- is a Sitka Spruce that stands 216 feet tall, measures 56 feet in circumference and has a crown that spreads 93 feet. That makes if the biggest tree in the State of Oregon and the biggest Sitka Spruce in the Country. The Klootchy giant has been named Oregon’s first Heritage Tree, a program that recognizes trees for their connection to Oregon History. One of our extended tours from the cruise ship, a visit to the heritage center, provided us with this partial view of an original Intuit Longboat, this view represents approximately 50% of the actual craft! we also were introduced to the native culture dance and celebratory gathering activities and some history of the far reaching communities , including artifacts and tools of the native peoples, an Interesting as well enjoyable presentation also included facts of when this land area was owned and occupied by Russia!
