  • I wanted to get a photograph the waterfalls in Pontneddfechan, Wales. I did some research, planned my route in the GPS and packed my kit. The chap in the waterfall centre was very helpful and was keen to tell me the proper welsh name of the waterfalls. I smiled and nodded, I still don’t have a clue to this day what he was talking about. Unfortunately I lost the map I bought and stupidly brought along my bicycle for quick access. Bad move. I had to carry my bicycle for most of the 10 miles round trip and also had to transverse a waterfall as I got stuck on the wrong side of the river and watched a load of guys in wetsuits try to walk behind the waterfalls and fail. All good fun. / This is my first attempt at taking wateralls so please be gentle. Canon 5D, 24-70mm at 50mm, f/20, 2.5 sec, ISO 50. ND filter used. Dust and scratches removed in photoshop, upped the saturation by +2 This shot is also available from a photobook collection called Rural Mementos by redtree.me © Copyright 2009 David Reid – redtree.me – All rights reserved.

  • This painting was done on wood with oils ^^ / : briefly the story behind the painting is a big sister protecting her younger sister from the harsh reality of the human world, which has come to show on her face but not yet on her younger sisters.

  • Model – Sarah / (My baby sister!) And Sarah sits alone / And I see her crying on the phone / Don’t let him hurt you / Cause you don’t need that now Sarah, remember all the times / We would stay up late beside the fire / With all your friends there / And me playing my guitar So don’t lock yourself in your room / Cause everyone outside cares for you / Write down your thoughts / Upon your head / Sarah, I’m still your brother / Won’t you let me in? You’re getting older now / Make sure you’re thinking for yourself / Don’t let them taint you / Or put you in harms way And I know that dad is gone / And mother is in pain and covered up / Don’t think I don’t know / How hard it is to be alone And so don’t lock yourself into your room / Cause everyone outside here cares for you / Write down the thoughts / That come upon your head / Cause Sarah, I’m still your brother / So let me in And I know that life is hard / But if we all gave up / Then what’s to live for / And I’ve tried that / And look what I am / So Sarah, I’m still your brother / Why won’t you let me in? Won’t you let me in? / I should have called / To see how you’ve been / Oh won’t you let me in / Sarah, I’m still your brother / Won’t you Let me in
