  • View from my balcony… I connected with this cityscape so much and photographed many times in various shades of light… Now, luckily I didn’t have to get up as early as Mel Brackstone does for her superb landscapes, this was shot early morning, and hopefully conveys some of the attitude that is Singapore…

  • I usually only upload one image per week, however, i’m in transit at the moment and only have limited connection time…

  • Time is money at the Hong Kong International Airport, because that place is huge! / - – - / Taken at the Hong Kong International Airport Terminal 1 – Terminal 2 connection. / / MORE WORKS FROM MY PORTFOLIO /

  • A free-range baby orangutan sucking its thumb in Singapore Zoo, Singapore. This critically endangered species demonstrates significant intelligence, with an ability to reason and think. The orangutan is closest relatives, sharing 97% of the same DNA as humans. I’ve been to Borneo (Dec 2007) and was shocked at the amount of jungle cleared to make way for palm oil plantations. Close your eyes, and imagine flying into Sandakan on the east coast – as far as you can see there are rows upon rows of palm trees. Rows upon rows. Then more rows upon rows. Then more rows upon rows. “Orangutans are one of the most critically endangered of the great apes, due to poaching and habitat loss. Based on the World Bank’s estimation that mechanized logging in the Kalimantan forest, (Indonesian Borneo), will result in its total loss by 2010, and other statistics stating that wild orangutans are disappearing at a rate of 5,000 orangutans per year, optimistic predictions give the orangutan ten more years before extinction in the wild.” (Source: Borneo Orangutan Survival UK http://www.savetheorangutan.co.uk/index.php) Taken with Canon 5D, ISO 1250, f5.6, 1/50th sec, 100-400mm L Series Canon Lens @ 400mm, handheld, no flash, Auto white balance. No post production. Featured in Canon DSLR Group, Image Writing Group, Animal Portraits Group & All animals Great and small Group (May 2009). Winner “Zoo Animals” challenge in the Animal Photography Group, June 2009. / Winner “Baby Animals” Challenge in the Women Photographer Group, July 2009. / Featured in “Baby Animals” Group July 2009.

  • Beautiful pink Flamingos standing together. Taken on a bright sunny day in Singapore, July 2008. Settings and camera – Canon 5D and 100-400mm lens, f8, ISO 200, AV mode, exposure 2 x stops under to darken background and bring out pink in flamingos. Minor cloning to two areas in background to remove green tree spots.

  • There are some of us, who took it upon ourselves to do things for others. to help others.. to make others happy.. but we forgot about ourselves! we forgot that we need to make ourselves happy too. we need to love ourselves too. if we don’t love ourselves, who’ll love us? i dedicate this to every one of you kind souls out there!! remember to always love yourself as well!! =D i especially thank Karin who kept reminding me that i am love-able as well. bad history and with the kind of people i’m surrounded by, i was made to believe that nobody will love me for everything that i am. am made to realise all my faults and bad points and weaknesses. made to believe am ugly and useless. having depression doesn’t help as i view myself as nothing more than a mental girl. i totally believe that it’s impossible for anyone to really love me. But Karin showed me otherwise. she made me answer and admit my pretty gd points.. and i realised.. hey!! i can be love-able?! am still trying to accept that now.. lolz.. it’s still kinda hard to accept, having been instilled those “i sux!” mindset for years… ahahahah.. • I was inspired by Judith Oppenheimer for this image, as this sort of thing ( but in B & W, is a specialty of hers )....... / This shot was a group of units with the rear staircases, and each one painted a different colour. / All of the older type of units in Singapore which are side by side, are painted different colours, as you will see in future images. / ( Taken with a p&s Panasonic Lumix FZ30. ) =================

  • Beats your average factory-produced business shoes, for sure! Traditional rich colours and upturned toes of North Indian footwear on display in Singapore. These shoes are worn by men and while I’m told they are extremely comfortable, I’ve never road-tested them! I shot this image in a display setting outside a store in Singapore’s Little India area. Because it was indoors, the low light was a help, not a hindrance. This was one of about half a dozen frames, but I reckon it has the edge because of the depth of field, the tight composition – and the fact it would be a great advertisement for a three-legged race. I shot this aspect deliberately, so that a viewer’s eye would first be drawn to the intricate, gilt handiwork on the shoes – and then be drawn forward to the graceful, long points. I do not crop, enhance or post-edit my images in any way. Shot with a Pentax K100D, using a Sigma 18-125mm lens. F6.7, 1/45 sec, ISO 800, focal length 88mm.
