Band playing in the Red Carpet Lounge of the Pitts Motor Hotel in the 1950’s. “In the sixties, the Pitts Hotel was a showplace, and Cornelius Pitts was one of Washington’s most successful black entrepreneurs. His hotel attracted not only tourists and traveling businessmen but local customers, black and white. They lined up at the Red Carpet Lounge, which featured valet parking and a maitre d’, to listen to the likes of Aretha Franklin. “The place stayed packed,’ a former regular said. “The drinks weren’t that high. You didn’t feel like you were getting ripped off. The music was great. Taken at Sunset Cliffs beach in San Diego. I had just moved to California and went to take a few standard shots of the sun setting. I was so lucky to find this guy staring over the ocean. I cant say what settings my camera was set on. I dont normally pay attention to things like that. I can say Photomatrix was involved. I used one file.

This exquisite creature is Lola Lamour, a beautiful woman who sings wartime favorites all over the country. She also starred on the T.V programme Time Warp Housewives focusing on women and couples who live their lives completely in the past. Lola is a lady whose passion includes living, dressing and cooking anything from the fifties with a healthy sprinkling of the forties at events. This image was taken at the Ramsey 1940’s Weekend…...Fantastic event!!

This is a collaboration with my friend Zooreka. I took 3 of Zoo’s fractal images and applied each to a terrain object as an altitude map: the lighter and white parts got real tall, the darker and black parts dipped down low. / These are Zooreka’s originals: ...and here’s how they look in Vue before adding textures and atmosphere: The foreground is part of the spikes of Shroomsbury, on the right the heights of Epping Forest, and rising majestic on the horizon, the spires of Way To Blue. Our Zooreka Herbals limo is one smooth ride, headed for the small village near the coast. Hope you like it, Zoo!!!!!
