© Simone Byrne Photography, 2007. All Rights Reserved. 29th November, 2007 Sunset at the ‘Tree Graveyard’. A conceptual image (diptych) for all those who are plagued by the “black dog”. Redesdale, Victoria, Australia What is Bipolar? Bipolar disorder is a medical illness that causes severe mood swings which are caused by a chemical imbalance in the brain. People who suffer from this illness lack the control mechanism that enables them to pull away from emotional situations and as such their lives may spiral out of control, through no fault of their own. The illness is very serious and very real and affects not only the sufferer, but their friends and family as well. There is still a lot of stigma attached to this disease, given that it is a mental illness to which very little is known about. It is incurable but can be controlled by diet and medication. Most bipolar types are brilliant, creative, inspiring, loving, generous and caring individuals who contribute to making the world a better place, but all the while they themselves struggle every day to survive. If there are any questions in relation to this tutorial feel free to post them here and I will answer them as best as I can. Remember that the most important thing is to keep practicing and eventually you will find what works best for you. Have fun playing :o) Simone Edit: I have revamped the tutorial now to include the comparison chart and trouble shooting guide. I have made the page A4 at 100dpi so that you can print it out and keep it in your camera bag for reference. Just click on the tutorial image to download the jpg file. Whilst people hustle and bustle getting to work on trains, buses and cars all over the world some of us take the time to reclaim our freedom from “the man”. © Simone Byrne Photography, 2008. All Rights Reserved. 22nd July, 2008 Standing next to my favourite inhabitant of the ‘Tree Graveyard’ at sunset. I wanted to take this image to gauge just how big these beauties really are. When I got home and processed the shot, I was surprised as to how much it actually dwarfed me! • Nowhere
    by Simone Byrne

    US$5.32–US$121.60

© Simone Byrne Photography, 2008. All Rights Reserved. 14th December, 2008 One of three old broken down piers at Clifton Springs on the Bellarine Peninsula. This is probably the least photographed of the three, well that I’ve seen anyway, but I rather like its narrow structure. I have always loved minimalist waterscapes and until now, without the aid of my trusty NDX400 filter, haven’t had a great deal of success, so this was my first real play with the new filter and I’m pretty happy with the result. The title kind of reflects where my life is heading at present (bad, BAD week!). Clifton Springs, Victoria, Australia Camera: Canon EOS 350D Lens: Canon 18-55mm @ focal length 46mm Exposure: 25 sec, f11, ISO 100 Filters: Hoya UV, Hoya CPL, Hoya NDX400 Processing: Adobe Photoshop CS More Images @ SimoneByrne.com.au Thanks for looking, all comments greatly appreciated, Simone.

© Simone Byrne Photography, 2008. All Rights Reserved. 29th December, 2008 One of the old piers/jetties at Clifton Springs on the Bellarine Peninsula. I like this one the best of the three as I think it has more character, the pelicans seem to agree. No sunset at all, but some lovely light and cloud made up for it. Clifton Springs, Victoria, Australia Camera: Canon EOS 350D Lens: Canon 18-55mm @ focal length 18mm Exposure: 120 sec, f16, ISO 100 Filters: Hoya UV, Hoya NDX400 Processing: Adobe Photoshop CS More Images @ SimoneByrne.com.au / Thanks for looking, all comments greatly appreciated, Simone.

  • Irony
    by Simone Byrne

    US$5.32–US$121.60

© Simone Byrne Photography, 2009. All Rights Reserved. 3rd April, 2009 Point Richards jetty on the Bellarine Peninsula. I am really surprised that this image actually worked due to the extreme wind gusts that blew up just on sunset. I had to shield the tripod with my body to take this to make sure my camera wasn’t blown over. I like this image for its contrast of the impending storm above the jetty and the purity of the water below, kind of reminds me of life. I’d sooner stay below, but sometimes you have to stick your head up to see what’s coming! The white water was achieved by stacking my Cokins to give me a 5 stop ND Grad, only photoshopping here is a slight bump in contrast and saturation with curves. Point Richards, Victoria, Australia Camera: Canon EOS 350D Lens: Canon 18-55mm @ focal length 18mm Exposure: 15 sec, f16, ISO 100 Filters: Hoya UV, Cokin 121S/121M ND Grads Processing: Adobe Photoshop CS More Images @ SimoneByrne.com.au Thanks for looking, all comments greatly appreciated, Simone.
