While taking what was supposedly my last shot of the day at Black Rock, I turned around and had this view of the sunset, with the rain in it, staring me in the face, I just couldn’t let it escape. So now, this was the last shot of the day !!!
Taken at Mammoth Hot Springs (Yellowstone Nat’l Park, WY) on a cold September morning. The sun was beginning to break through the fog, but the boardwalk still led through an eerie scene. Probably my favorite as I like the mystery. Canon Elan II / Velvia film.

We’ve had some foggy mornings in Melbourne this week, made me contemplate my life’s balance between responsibilities and personal freedom, as fog always does, lol. All up it’s beautiful, even though you can feel a bit enclosed.
St Marks Square in Venice. Just probably the best place ever to photograph, loved every minute of being there and can’t wait to go back in winter when it’s flooded to see how the people and tourists cope with all the duck boards. I will have to check the original for the metadata as I can’t see any info on the jpg. Canon ?, 24-70mm at ?mm, f/?, 1/? sec, ISO ?. No filters used. A knackered old bin to steady the camera. Stiched together in Photoshop. This shot is also available from a photobook collection called Urban Mementos by redtree.me © Copyright 2009 David Reid – redtree.me – All rights reserved.
A planned early morning trip with all the equipment except for warm clothing, oh man it was cold! -10 degrees. Back at the hotel it took a hour before I could use the camera to review the shots. Dust and scratches removed in photoshop with a midtone desaturation after the stitch.
