Old red barn and silo slowly tumbling down. Beartooth Mountains of Montana in the background.
this is how i started my drive home last sunday morning. / i left with the temps in west virigina at 22 degrees (F). / the elevationfor the state, averages in the 3300foot range and stays below 5000feet. / one of the two lane highways went just high enough to get a view over the mountains and into the fields below. so stopping on the highway to capture this was a must! / i shot this in SS priority, SS at 1/160, F-stop at 32, ISO of 400, and exposure compensation at +0.3, focal length of 47mm
An old abandoned grain elevator at Dorothy, Alberta – Canada. Taken at sunset, this outstanding edifice on the prairie glowed with colour /
A very old silo that has been used and abused by time and weather. / Taken in Pigeon Michigan. Nikon D 90 / 18-200mm VR Lens
It’s been weeks and weeks since I put up any new work… been busy with one thing and another… though that may seem like a poor excuse for not feeding the bubble with new stuff…. anyhow….I thought I’d go back to a medium that I truly love… Infrared film… Kodak of course…. not that they make the damned stuff any more which is heartbreaking to true lover of the medium like myself… I only have three rolls left in the whole world… don’t know what I’m going to do for kicks when I use them…. sigh…. anyway…. a new series of works …. the / Silo’s in Newtown. This is a very old building and once was a real silo… now it’s been converted to very very expensive chi chi apartments… / . / and I do mean expensive…. but the thing is that the form of the building remains true…. how do you fight such strong lines? They dominate the line of the suburb like nothing else and over the years I’ve wasted my fair share of film on them…. this image and the ones that follow are as small part of that repotire and I do really really hope you enjoy them…. the Silo Series…..

Nikon D60, Sigma 10-20mm lens. F14, focal length 11mm, exposure 1/25sec Spent Friday night in the wheatbelt town of Tammin approx 180kms east of Perth. / Tammin is a classic wheatbelt one street town with huge wheat silos (constructed in 1960 they were the first concrete silos built in Australia) and a railway line on one side of the road and the faithful old Tammin Hotel and a few shops on the other /
This silo was long ago part of a farmstead who’s life passed. And with it the memories of the harvest. Or the hands that built it. It still stands firm and true. No one is using it anymore nor is anyone tilling the lands.. All is growing over with time.. But it looked so grand in the snow fall.. A lost memory to share perhaps in your heart and mind.. This photo inspired owlspook to send this to me. I think it made me go into my dream land to try to imagine how this world can talk to us through others. / I hope you take time to read her words. / By owlspook the cry is heard all around / town folk feeling smug / as a bug in a rug / no more hard work / no more getting up at 4am / to milk the cows / no more / no more / yet / behind the shade / in the window of the house / third from the willow tree / a little girl / with dreams in her eyes / sees the fields / and the orchards / and silently she sings / although no one is left / to hear her voice owlspook http://www.redbubble.com/people/owlspook /
Acrylic on Canvas / 120 cm x 180 cm The view from our painting studios on a wet day. I concentrated on building up a surface for this piece, of mixtures of impasto and watery glazes for a feeling of depth.

Barn door left open . Empty as it is. Snow falling in force. Silo empty and cold. Solid whites and earth tones. I wanted this view to come out a bit different. I wondered if I should add this capture which includes the building. But after removing the noise and looking at it up close.. I like the candy cane focus.. I call it that because it almost seems like you are watching the trees melt and the Silo ghost away.. Weird but I love it.. Take your time and view large and close if you can.. Off to the pub while this uploads.. Brunch in this part of the world.. /
