Acrylic on Canvas / 120 cm x 180 cm The view from our painting studios on a wet day. I concentrated on building up a surface for this piece, of mixtures of impasto and watery glazes for a feeling of depth.

this is how i started my drive home last sunday morning. / i left with the temps in west virigina at 22 degrees (F). / the elevationfor the state, averages in the 3300foot range and stays below 5000feet. / one of the two lane highways went just high enough to get a view over the mountains and into the fields below. so stopping on the highway to capture this was a must! / i shot this in SS priority, SS at 1/160, F-stop at 32, ISO of 400, and exposure compensation at +0.3, focal length of 47mm
Taken in the town of Rome, PA on 11/19/2008. A Canon Rebel XTi camera. I don’t have any history on it. All I can tell you it’s older than I am. Edited in HDR and Photoshop.
A very old silo that has been used and abused by time and weather. / Taken in Pigeon Michigan. Nikon D 90 / 18-200mm VR Lens
It’s been weeks and weeks since I put up any new work… been busy with one thing and another… though that may seem like a poor excuse for not feeding the bubble with new stuff…. anyhow….I thought I’d go back to a medium that I truly love… Infrared film… Kodak of course…. not that they make the damned stuff any more which is heartbreaking to true lover of the medium like myself… I only have three rolls left in the whole world… don’t know what I’m going to do for kicks when I use them…. sigh…. anyway…. a new series of works …. the / Silo’s in Newtown. This is a very old building and once was a real silo… now it’s been converted to very very expensive chi chi apartments… / . / and I do mean expensive…. but the thing is that the form of the building remains true…. how do you fight such strong lines? They dominate the line of the suburb like nothing else and over the years I’ve wasted my fair share of film on them…. this image and the ones that follow are as small part of that repotire and I do really really hope you enjoy them…. the Silo Series…..
So much better to view LARGE ....... thanks HDR photography…..........3 image layering using Photomatix Pro software….......tripod Southern Alberta, Canada / Autumn 2008 THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR YOUR VIEWS MY FRIENDS….xo
This was taken in Port Hope Michigan, I loved the old feel to this place, but for some reason b/w just wasn’t giving it the feel I wanted, so I played around with it a bit and came up with this..I like it..hope you do too. Nikon D90 / 18-200mm VR Lens
Best on Full Size As we leave the top of Blue Knob mountain heading toward Claysburg my eye is always taken by this beautiful farm between Pavia and Claysburg on State Forest Highway (3003). On this particular day, May 23, 2009, the clouds were outdoing themselves. Had to pull over and get this snap. I got a kick out of all the poofy dandelions happily propagating away in the foreground and trying to compete with the poofy clouds!! Taken with the Nikon D40x with the 18-200mm vr Nikon lens at 1/320 shutter and f/5.6 aperture. Exposure was set at minus .33 and iso was 200. Post processing included hdr from a single hand-held image duplicated twice to an eval of +/- 2 then run through Photomatix. Gave the old clone tool a workout as this beautiful scene is marred by a giant telephone pole and lots and lots of wires!!!
I live in a big farming community, there are Grain Elevators in just about every neighboring town, all of them are different, and make for excellent pictures..Taken in Pigeon Michigan. Nikon D90 / 18-200 mm VR Lens /
