by Mariaan KrogHello dearest friends & fellow artists Blame it on power cuts the past three days that I have not been to any of your bubbles. Oooeee…
Hello dearest friends & fellow artists Blame it on power cuts the past three days that I have not been to any of your bubbles. Oooeeeweeee, so bad for my stress levels! What’s the good news, you ask? The fact that even though I was gone, someone was moved enough to create a wonderful artwork with one of my photos as reference! I feel so honoured and happy. It was painted by a very talented artist and I would like to show you with pride what a beautiful job she has done. This is the painting JoAnne Marie Shaw painted: And this is the photo she used as reference: / Congratulations Jo on a fine painting – a true likeness, that is for sure! Thanks, I feel so inspired by it! Joanne Marie Shaw’s portfolio can be seen here Hope to visit everyone’s portfolio’s tonight! I’m keeping my fingers crossed that we have power tonight! Miss you! Thanks for the visits & comments! Regards / Mariaan PS: I would like to submit this journal to all the groups that accepted the photo image (SUNSET SILHOUETTE) so that everyone can share this inspirational & encouraging news with me.

i am : Children of the Dark Sun
by webgrrlWhen i went to this event.. it was just…
When i went to this event.. it was just on the 2nd year after ‘Webgrrl’ was born and 1.5yrs from the time i first found the Psytrance community. With over 8000 people there, and me knowing the NSW and VIC psytrance community – i was quite surprised and saddened after the eclipse moment, that i somehow viewed this unforgettable moment totally by myself. As the totality happened, the first thought that came to my mind was my four kids and tears just streamed down and a voice told me to put down the camera and just view it also with my own memory (and not all thru the camera lense). The fact of me being totally by myself, whilst everyone else i knew told their stories of being within their ‘group’ being able to scream, wow and wahooo and hug and all that with others – always bugged me for the next few years. Just kept wondering .. Why? What was the reason, Why did universe send me all the way to my first desert experience, first eclipse experience with thousands of people and then when that moment.. why was i by myself? How did that happen etc.. In Jan 2005, i started saving $$ for my Turkey Eclipse experience (29 March 2006). I started a blog on Blogger called From Tent to Turkey early February to make sure i keep to my goal (cuz once i publish/say something.. i tend to do it). Even though my plans was to go to Turkey, no Psytrance festival was confirmed there, and all rumours were pointing to Brazil, where the eclipse path of the sun was starting from animation of path below But my instincts had always said Turkey was the place, and so i kept to my own intuitions. In April/May 2005 it was announced that the festival would be in Turkey :D with still a possibility of one happening in Brazil on the beach.. As i hadnt been overseas since arriving in Australia 20yrs ago, just the goal of going overseas, finding someone to move into my house whilst i was away to mind my 3 kids, save $5000 whilst being on the pension was a goal, i seriously thought i was totally kidding myself. But i told self, “Look, even if you dont make it, you would have saved much money, learnt more about Turkey, etc.. so there would not be any real ‘Loss’, right?” And so, i kept on plodding away towards this fantasy/goal with the mantra of ‘Believe in Yourself’ and kept researching and making contact with others that was heading to Turkey.. I took courage and wrote to the organisation, Indigo Kids, introducing myself re taking photos at the upcoming event and offering any assistance in promotion etc , in hope that maybe i could get a media pass, saving me the price ticket of 180euros.. / I made the connection, and helped them out with total happiness and our friendship grew daily thru MSN (the organisers were based in Israel). Few months later, i was asked by the organisers wait for this! to design the festival Ticket!!!! To cut long story short.. i designed the festival ticket they paid me $450 USD my airport to festival transport, food, water, soft drinks, smokes and beers was taken care off for the full 9 days i was there and i was the official Soulclipse photographer by the time i flew out of Melbourne, 15th March 2006, i had saved a total of $9000 ; and after paying for airfares, insurance, and a laptop, i had $5000 for spending money. i arrived back in Melbourne 12 weeks later with $2500 still left in my ‘travel savings’ ive kept saving, and thats for the 2009 Eclipse… Whilst i was designing the 2006 Eclipse festival ticket, the answer (revelation) came to me about the Why i was alone at the 2002 eclipse.. If i was with everyone, in a group etc – it would have not been possible for me to have taken these photos (with my olympus C700 – 2Megapixel – no special lense, nuthing!!) with these most awesome sillhouettes..

Collaboration: First Tripod Out of the Pit
by Dave PearsonAbout a week ago Lloyd Harvey commented on...
About a week ago Lloyd Harvey commented on my photograph Beyond the Trees, saying that it reminded him of one of the early scenes of H. G. Wells’ book The War of the Worlds. He then went on to express a desire to take the image and turn it into what he was seeing. Never having done any sort of collaboration before, and being a big fan of the book (I read it many times as a child and own quite a few copies), I was intrigued by the idea. So, a couple of BubbleMails later we had a plan. Lloyd delivered the result to me today: I think he’s done a great job (and I do like the idea of a tripod getting ready to take on Billingborough) and the bulk of the credit goes to Lloyd: I just took a photograph, he did a lot of work creating the tripod and then processing the final result. Have a look at his page for the image for details on how he created the work. And be sure to have a look at his website too.

Artist-Linkage and Size-Disclaimer
by Stephen MitchellFirst, a screen dump to display two interesting points I’d like to mention about the RB purchase-page. !http://images-1.redbubble.com/...
First, a screen dump to display two interesting points I’d like to mention about the RB purchase-page. (1.) There’s no link-back from the purchase-page to the artists original image. Rather than ONLY the back-button in a browser be the only way to return to the previous page, an option needs to be available as a link within the purchase page. / I believe this option existed previously (both on the name and the art-title). Could we please have a link added to the Author/Artist’s name (as circled on image)? (2.) Possible Information to add to frame/lamination sizing. Other than ‘cards’, ‘framed with no border’ and the ‘canvas’ print, the other choices have a white or black matte around the image, plus a wooden frame. / Therefore, when a purchaser chooses a Framed Print, Large (406mm x 610mm), Flat Frame (30mm wide), the purchaser needs to be aware the entire image/frame is 406mm by 610mm, not just the image within. Maybe this issue has been covered in the forum’s, but I’m yet to see any changes on these issues.

I’ve got some pics of interesting stuff made or found recently, but they’re not ‘art’ and don’t belong in my portfolio ;) All these photos were taken in and around our house in the Krokodilpoort Mountain range south of Nelspruit, South Africa. You can click on the thumbnail images to get a larger version. I’d suggest right-clicking and opening in a new tab or window, but that’s just my surfing habit… First up, two little samples of what I do when I’m not hanging around RB: These are cut with a laser cutting and engraving machine. We do a lot of work for a scrapbooking shop in town, as well as odd jobs now and then. Also making stencils from photos for an artistic lady who can’t draw, apparently ;) This little fellow was grazing right outside our front garden gate the other day. I took the photo from inside the house, second story, with my point-and-shoot 5x optical zoom Sony Cybershot T200. So it’s not terribly good. But it’s the first photo any of us had managed to take of game on our own property. Just for that, I need to brag with it, LOL! It’s a Red Duiker, by the way. This guy was sitting on the wall in my parent’s bedroom the other night. So we took a photo, caught it and set it free outside. I once caught one downstairs in the office. It’s a good idea not to walk barefoot in the house when it’s dark… We picked this tomato yesterday and it was just so red and glowing with sunlight and health, I had to take a photo. Took a walk and found this. The sun coming through the tree and lighting up the grass was just amazing. I just wish I could get a shot like this without the telephone cables in the background. Ah well. Finally, a water lily growing in our neighbour’s dam. Huge one. This pic was taken the same afternoon as the one above, and the sunlight was coming in at the perfect angle to light up the lily’s leaves.

I’m so excited that my idea for a redbubble group was approved! I’ve always loved photographs of silhouettes and I was really shocked when I searched for a silhouette group to find that one didn’t exist. Gasp! There are already 14 members and 17 images. I’m so pleased! If you have any silhouette images within your gallery, please add them to the group so that it can grow! I’m really looking forward to viewing many images of silhouettes from this talented community.
