This calender is a showcase of the first twelve works in my “Accretions” series. Each of these works was drawn w/ ballpoint pen and painted in Photoshop CS3. There was no planning, rough drafts, or erasing for these pieces. Each drawing evolved spontaneously as new forms, feelings, words and ideas crept into my consciousness while I was working. These truly are accretions of my thoughts, but hopefully you can enjoy them too.

To those on RB who profess to be writers and poets, may I respectfully make the following suggestion? / If you are not sure of the correct spelling of a word, you might save yourself some possible embarrassment by checking it in a Dictionary,Thesaurus or even better, Google it BEFORE publishing on RB or elsewhere. / I appreciate that like all artists, writers sometimes take ‘artistic license’ and change spelling to suit the style of the writing. You only have to read John Steinbeck’s ‘Grapes of Wrath’ to see countless examples of this: ‘Ah’m tard’ instead of ‘I’m tired’, ‘Lan’ instead of ‘Land’ and ‘Git’ for ‘Get’. He also spells the name ‘Rose of Sharon’ as ‘Rosasharn’. / My point is, this is obvious dialectic wordplay and not a result of Steinbeck not being able to spell. Bad spelling is bad spelling, period. In this information saturated age, there is no excuse for it. So please, can you check your work carefully before posting? It’s called ‘proofreading’! It’s what writers do! If you can’t be bothered to, using the lame excuse ‘It’s only a ‘First Draft’. I’ll correct it later’, then please don’t get pissy and defensive if someone who cares enough about your work, takes the time and effort to PRIVATELY point out a spelling mistake, lest you appear to others, not to have sufficient grasp of the medium in which you have chosen to express yourself.
