Went for a six mile hike the other week, up and around a local beauty spot known as Stiperstones. This is one of many rocky outcrops and it’s called the devils chair …. The world’s first cast iron bridge was built over the River Severn at Coalbrookdale in 1779. Not only iron founders and industrial spies flocked to see this wondrous bridge, but also artists and travellers. The Bridge had a far reaching impact: on local society and the economy, on bridge design and on the use of cast iron in building. The story of the bridge’s conservation begins in 1784 with reports of cracks in the Southern abutments, and is brought up to date with the English Heritage sponsored work of 1999.

My favourite tourist location in Telford. The worlds first traffic carrying bridge made of cast iron, built in 1779. Made by the Coalbrookdale company, this study is in pure infrared.

I found this peaceful dwelling on another of my walks in Shropshire, it was about 10 miles along the Montgomery canal between Llanamynach and Welsh Frankton …..... I’ve used a bit of artistic licence by montaging 5 images and using several layers in Photoshop CS3 :)) Copyright Richie Dean 2008

Taken on the bridge that connects the two platforms at the Seven Valley Railway at Bridgnorth in Shropshire. Although this steam train appears to be coming into the station, it is actually reserving up the line before attaching itself to the carriages waiting to leave, Converted into a pinhole black and white.
