The Twelve Apostles
Shot in the south-west of Western Australia. I seriously love the work of Peter Dombrovski, best known for his incredible landscapes in the Tasmanian wilderness (some instrumental in preventing the damming of the Franklin River). He also did some close-up work, and here, I’ve made some attempt to convey nature the way he did. I’ve got a very long way to go!!!! This is just a tiny section of rock at Canal Rocks, but for the little seacreatures pottering in these waterholes, it’s probably like an enormous gorge. Fall colors had just reached their peak and there was a chill in the damp air, but the view was a pure delight. This photo was taken with a Canon EOS 10D with a Canon EF 70-210mm f/4 telephoto lens at 200mm. The shutter speed was 1/20th sec at f/13. The camera’s ISO was set to 400. A Manfrotto tripod was used with a remote shutter release. Your comments are always welcome! The Latin names of my plantscapes are all derived from the species living there. The green and yellow texture surfaces on this painting are inspired by a Lettuce Coral, Agaricia which is commonly found in the Caribbean. The bullio in the title is latin for ‘bubbling’. / I have also made a bronze & glass sculpture based on this painting. This image shows a detail. oil on canvas / 120×80 cm. / original sold
