  • SURF RESCUE by karin taylor / ink pastel acrylic and charcoal on canvas textured paper / the original aussie lifesaver chick on patrol at her local beach…swim between the flags folks..and right in front of the surf livesavers zincy noses….. My lifesaver chic sports a white onepiece swimsuit rivalling Miss World Australia’s figure….lashings of zinc cream on her nose for sun protection, and a pair of binoculars, really looking the part here…...and also looking pretty chilled, a common trait of most lifesavers on oz beaches :) There is a rubber duckie in the vicinity too…just in case…. i don’t do many skinny chicks, so she’s a bit of a rarity ‘round these parts! lol

  • On my journey through the Indiana Dunes National Lake Shore I came across another field of tall grass. The sun was filtering through the trees to the left of me and lit up the tall grass and gave it this nice warm glow. From June of 2008. Copyright © Curtiss P Simpson

  • mixed media on canvas 24” x 20” i made this piece when i was in the beginning of a 5 year relationship…. much love and awe going on. the creation began with newspaper on canvas. i have always loved the colors in the grocery store adds… and all the fruit. i don’t remember having a plan for this piece as is usually the case. it appeared to me. as you can see, most of the newsprint is painter over…except the apple and the space around it that forms the eye. the pink and stripes and a few changes on the male character came more recently….after we separated. i have a picture of it before. maybe it should go on red bubble, too. i celebrated when i sold the original for 1200 dollars. the relationship was over and i felt it appropriate that it find a new home …...and it did. it lives in california now. partnership as sacred…...

  • .....like this! dreamstime, sxc.hu, and my own clouds image too.. / I wanted the sky to look a little surreal here…if you’re wondering why the clouds are dipped down so low… “Mama Told Me There’d Be Days Like This” I made this for all of the moms out there – like myself – who pack up for a day of fun at the shore - lake or sea – doesn’t matter - sometimes this one little scene looks ALL TOO FAMILIAR. • On Queeblus Graino in the Stellis system lies the forbidding coast known as the Teeth of the Dragon. / Over the centuries untold numbers of vessels have been lost along this shore. But it is estimated to be in the hundreds of thousands. It can be found at the western edge of the Sargarus Sea, the Teeth have to be navigated to reach the spaceport at Rivers Mouth. / Most of the planet is a no fly zone , so sailing vessels are the only form of transpotation. A great many river pilots will tell you they know the waters here, but unless they bear the Guild of Pilots Scarass Seal on there foreheads it would bode you well not to trust them with your ship and your life. / But many captains wanting to save credits have found the Teeth of the Dragon to be their final resting place. And of course a great salvage industry as sprung up along this coast which stretches for 4,000 leagues or in modern measurement 12,000 miles.

  • The Moray Firth. Taken from Lossiemouth, Moray, Scotland. I’ve never really been a fan of HDR images. Most of them seem unreal to me. In saying that I have been playing with Photomatrix Pro for a while. Anyway, earlier this evening I was again inspired to revisit HDR after viewing this image by James Coard. What you see is a 4 shot HDR generated via Photomatrix. It was then tweaked in Nikon Capture NX2 and Photoshop. Many thanks for the inspiration James.
