Photographic based digital montage, 2007 (no 2 from series of 3 re-worked). Shot two seperate models & combined them. Draw in & enhanced part of the headpeice, body, dress, added fringe to face, made the features more angular, blew up lips, created cheekbones, reworked branches, filtered wallpaper effects, extended chandelier, added lacework/flower elements, desaturated & added a sepia tone. Approximately 50 Photoshop layers.

This shot evolved into something I really like – with potential multiple interpretations. The idea was to comment on those being oppressed to becoming becoming oppressors – from marginal to mainstream, from radical to conservative. Recent history of the gay and lesbian liberation movement has resulted in new generation ‘queers’. This shot shows new scandal by the ‘old’ scandlised. Image copyright © 2007, Robert Knapman. I wanted a image, that I think of alot about. This Poem was written by Vanesse Cathleen who is here on redbubble, i thought it suited this image. The classic tale of science gone wrong, wrapped up in a B-Movie. Who can forget the immortal line at the end: ‘If thine eye offends thee, pluck it out’. Ray Miland at his best—either this or Dial M for Murder. Certainly better than all those times he appeared in Columbo as an incompetent killer.

This illustration was done for the quake survivors in Sichuan, China. The meaning of this illustration is two-fold: First, I imagine if there were a huge panda (Sichuan is very well known for their pandas), so huge that it was able to absorb all the effects of the quake, people could have been enjoying lives peacefully. Second, the panda signifies the rescuers, supporters, donators from everywhere, they work together to give the victims and the survivors peace.

Helen is not necessarily the most popular massager of self indulgent egos and you may or may not agree with her methods, but there is no doubt that she is a caring and gutsy human being. She has never shied away from expressing her abhorrence of all forms of oppression and prejudice; racism sexism homophobia extreme religious zealotry Nazism etc. / / Various extreme right wing morons have waged a battle against her for years, these are the people who believe a Black man is not fit to lead a country and who would stoop to any depths to see Helen and other liberal minded people silenced. They use lies and deceit to further their self serving causes. I have personally been goaded by them too. It sickens me that they have won :-( / / This is a very sad day for people here who care about the things that are really important and that make a very real difference to the quality of humanity, surely among adults a few swear words aimed at an antagonist do not constitute a hanging offence?
