War Between The Worlds The noise, the deafening noise. / A battle rages to my north. / Armies of ships fall to my side, / weighing on my heart for those inside. / The metal torn and burned, the sound / of electricity courses through my veins. / Waves of terror surround me, while those / untouched and safe know nothing. / The coming of time, sets the pace for a new era. / Like beasts of armour they wheel fate, / determination to break through the barriers / that separate them from us. / The trumpets wail, and wings fall. / The masters reproach treads near. / The bow breaks and the floodgates of peril, / wash over us, drowning the luminating heat of despair / The finale draws near as I’m blinded by glorious light, stars fall from their designation, / The universe goes silent, the darkness, the nothingness, my mind slows, I fall….. It was a sunny day at Waverly Cemetary and not a sound was heard from the graves except the crashing from the waves in the distance! We find Ebony posing and in style I must add. Today she left the other models for dead and dug her heels right into the great photos you see before you! Armed in her shiny new leggings and a t shirt that just scram: “Oh Mr Hart, whatta mess!”, we went around Waverly Cemetary with my thermos filled with earl Grey and took some pretty fantastic shots. It was no suprise that on the way home Ebony and I got lost on the way. The way back is a long (some would say steep) hill. Then its up and down from there. I decided we should take the 378 from the bottom of Bronte road. My impovisational thought would be met with sheer suprise when it was the third to last stop. The bus stopped in some posh upper class province of Bronte that I had no idea how to get back on the way back to Bondi Junction. It was getting hot so I made the smart move (from the last dumb move) to stop at a milk bar and get a cool refreshing drink for my Muse and I. On the way I found a small but deep valley of jungle that I had pointed to Ebony that that would be a good place to do a shoot. She nodded into her macaroons delightfully. Eventually we did make it back to my small Paddington studio. Ebony started to peel off her leggings in the bathroom shower whilst I was in the other room loading up the pictures from the days shooting. I took a chilled water from the fridge and we looked at the fantastic shots we had taken. We laughed uncontrollably then settled down to macaroons as Ebony then glanced at me with a mischivous look of a Micha Barton quality. I then smiled contently in my then room tempertured water. It was at this time that Ebony had to leave for home and I was left with all of these great photos and a plate of half eaten Macaroons that I had to eat myself. I then smiled to myself in a blank sort of way.
An image of the historic light-station on Cove Island. This lighthouse has guided ships through the perilous channel between Lake Huron and Georgian Bay since it became operational in October 1858. Access to this island is restricted and only reachable by boat. There is no land access to Cove Island.
The barquentine, Waterwitch (built 1871) gets into trouble leaving the mouth of the river Tyne. Struggling against the angry power of nature, as a sudden storm rolls in from the moody, north sea..’’’ Behind is a top gallant schooner, also being beaten back. In the background, is the red painted ‘Groyne’ lighthouse (1882), of South Shields. I’ve used two Victorian ship photos, as reference for details of the two ships. Bockingford rough, 10” x 7” / 140lb blue-tinted watercolour paper. *I’ve entered this into the ‘Storm Challenge’ *
High priests of spirits, stars and stone, yet truth is no where found. / Shake my foundations to the bone. Oh send Your stable ground.
It’s a heartfelt poem about me, my Creator and Earth, Wind, Fire and Water.
Lovely port of call on Alaskan Cruise
Will it fit under the Sydney Harbour Bridge? Once again I enjoyed sailing on the James Craig and learning of the ships history as it has been a long one. I know someone who worked on her many years ago, he is now turning 98 years old soon and also one of my workmates is currently a volunteer worker and gets to crew the ship at times.
I live in a Great Lake port town. The ships, tugs and seasonally changing waters create for some eye-catching photo ops. Here, the tugs rest near large cargo ships during their winter lay-up.
