Two Ships at Sea
It is true / She will sail again / Once she is gone
This poem is Based on and Inspired the Photograph and photograph’s description. The image is titled Ghost Ship / Photographed by RedBubble artist Peter Rivron In the Photographer Description Peter Rivron writes: / The Ryde Queen paddle steamer was built in 1936, she operated a ferry service between Portsmouth and The Isle of Wight. Withdrawn from service in 1970, she opened as a night club at Binfield on The Isle of Wight, this is where I would spend most of my Saturday nights in my teenage years. Abandoned now she still remains on this spot slowly rotting away. / Since taking this photo her funnel has collapsed. / / / / - / A NOTE FROM THE POET: I thank you all for reading this poem! Dozens of bottles of expensive spirits and liqueurs, together with glasses, had crashed to the floor. The rattan furniture including armchairs and coffee tables inlaid with marble had slid crazily across the floor. My wife, Julie, was gripping the bar, and I had slid on my bottom back and forth across the floor twice.
