  • They are delightful to paint, you begin to see there character. There is no doubting the fact with their stocky appearance, sweeping horns and eyes that peep out through long shaggy fringes, Highland Cattle win hearts and are favorites amongst animal lovers around the World. / What isn’t so obvious is the hardiness of this ancient breed. They were born and bred to deal with the extreme weather conditions of the Highlands and Islands of Scotland making them the hardiest breed of cattle in the world today. / Highland cattle are the ideal choice for conservation grazing. They are hardy grazers – they will eat a wide range of vegetation unpalatable to most cattle -, live out in all seasons and weathers, and have a long breeding life. Furthermore, they are relatively light in weight and therefore reduce poaching of the ground.

  • There are more than 6 billion human beings on Earth. According to the population estimates released by the United Nations, the 6 billion mark was reached on October 12 1999. Here is a sample that I had to paint of some of these beautiful people of the world.

  • A collection of my photos, ranging from nature to locations.

  • This calendar features a selection of tropical and nautical photos.

  • All watercolour paintings.

  • My calendar has an element of the sea in each month. / Some are tranquil, others are stormy, depending on the month. All are watercolour paintings, and two, May and October, are pen and wash.

  • I have selected some of my atmospheric paintings, and matched them to the months. Jan – Graveyard Metallica. The lowest, darkest point in winter, in the Northern hemisphere. It gets better from now on! Feb – Hetton Colliery 1838. A dark and industrial scene, we have to tough this month out, like those hard men of that era in the mines! Mar – Smalholm Sunset . The light begins to get brighter as Spring is nearly here. Apr – Blea Tarn. Spring is here and the light gets bright. May – El Golco . Bright long days are here! Jun – Corinth . The season warms up and the longest days of the year. July – Market Day. The hottest month. Aug – Toscana . Holidays abroad and at home. Sept – Victorian Lady Fishing . September begins to turn the season. Oct – Old Carpathia . The dark nights begin, and October ends with Halloween. Nov – Beamish Wheel . Autumnal colours are everywhere. Dec – Trees of Eden . The winter Solstice, and celebration of the birth of Jesus. The reverse is, of course, true for those of you in the Southern hemisphere!
