Caught this couple having an animated chat – well one half of the couple was animated anyway! I printed the shot straight away and ran it over to them – they were very appreciative.

I was forced to watch a magnificent sunset through the car window on the way to my daughter’s drama perfromance – when we arrived this was all I could see, I just had to capture a piece of it. Springfield, South Australia

Each year on 20th March for the last 4 years has been a double celebration for my husband Andy and I. / First of all we celebrate “New Year”. For me, a New Year does not start in the middle of Winter, but at the Spring Equniox. For me the beginning of Spring is the beginning of the new “Natural” Year. We do not wait up till midnight, but instead each year we have found somewhere to welcome in the new dawn of the day. We get up early (4am this year) to make sure we are where we want to be in time for the new dawn. For me it does not necessarily mean sunrise, (which is just as well as it can be cloudy sometimes) but when the day breaks and night becomes day, and when you hear the first song of a bird on the wind. / This year we went to NorthWales and looked over the River Dee to our home. The row of lights you see at the front is Parkgate, and just behind that to the right is Neston. The other reason we celebrate is because it is our Wedding Anniversary. So, as we wait and it begins to come light, we have a small bottle of bubbly and some chocolate, and we open our cards. This year was magical. The streetlights across the Dee twinkled and smiled at us in the wind. It was a very overcast and windy morning, as nature was stiring from it’s slumber. The shilouettes of trees on the near hillock waved at us and slowly the shapes of horses appeared on the ridge. The new day, the New Year was waking into being. I got out of the car where I had been staying to keep warm from the biting wind on the mountain side, and embraced the new day, the New Year. It was good to feel alive. :)
