by tkrosevearA grouping of crows is called a ‘murder’, this group landed in our “Message Tree”, just hours before a wind storm blew through. / There are many superstitions about crows: / The English have a rhyme about crows: one means anger; two is mirth; three a wedding; four a birth; five is heaven; six is hell; seven is the devil himself. / To the natives of Northamptonshire, however, a single flying crow is an omen of bad luck instead of anger. / Crows or Ravens gathering in trees in the dark, but never really settling, are souls in purgatory, according to the Irish. / In Russia it was believed that a witch’s spirit took crow-form. Their magical attributes are many, as well: Thief, trickery, boldness, skill, cunning, single mindedness; a bringer of knowledge. Prophesy. Learn from the past but don’t hold onto it. Swiftness, eloquence. Shape-shifting. Divination. To the alchemist, the crow stood for the condition produced when the Elements had been separated out. For myself, from my experiences in rescuing so many from being poisoned, shot and hit by cars – I have only found them to being quite intelligent with a varied vocabulary in mockery and the best insectivores around. Always quite pleased to see them as we travel along the highways, as they usually warn us of law enforcement not being very far away… Which reminded me of this SONG by my favorite Crow ;)
