Thanks to Ronya once again for the title idea Wall art by Shepard Fairy AKA Obey
My coworker’s young Australian Shepard taken on 12/19/06. Her father is also a “blue Merle” and her mother is a Black Tri, the perfect makings for excellent stock. We call her Punz for short; she will be ready to breed in the Spring of 2008; I can only imagine how gorgeous her pups will be. I don’t take many pet photographs but, on seeing the outcome of this shot, that may change.
We all have sheep inside of us i guess…no thats crap. I’m just making that up.
Another George for President! A better one!
This is a bit of a tribute to two of my favorite artists. Both of whom have made it on t-shirts in their own way. If you don’t know Shepard Fairey and Banksy, look them up – you’re in for a treat. If you do – I hope get this image. I’m sure both of them are bemused at their own rise to fame. (or notoriety).... Special mention goes to spikerama and his shoe thrower design.
Rebel Without a Cause is a 1955 film directed by Nicholas Ray that tells the story of a rebellious teenager played by James Dean, who comes to a new town, meets a girl, defies his parents, and faces the local high school bullies. It sought to portray the existing decay of youth in middle America, critique parental style, and expose the rift between two generations. Many American teens at the time of Dean’s major movies identified with Dean and the roles he played, especially in Rebel Without A Cause: the typical teenager, caught where no one, not even his peers, can understand him.

When I first saw Shepard Fairey’s “Hope” poster, I liked it. That is until I found out the ugly truth behind most of his work (including the Obama promotional poster). It turns out that he is known for outright thieving other artists work and photos and creating his work from it. Hundreds of thousands of dollars were made off the “Hope” poster. However, the photographer that took the original photo Fairey traced over, has not been given a single cent. Because of all this, I was inspired to create my own satirical version of the “Hope” poster. For a basis, I used a picture of Fairey. I don’t know the name of the photographer that took the picture of him, but fully intend to set aside 20% of all earnings from this image to give to them, should they come forward.
Can’t be worse than the last guy…:)
