Meet Mo. He is a little squirrel who loves the quiet of the darkness. He loves making wishes and shooting them into the sky towards the twinkling stars! Will his wishes all come true? This is a print of an original illustration that I did with ink and digitally colored. Mo and Teeny are two little squirrels that live in my head….they had to come out eventually! Mo is available for limited prints and cards. Thanks for looking! ~Shelli xoxo / More of my work is available here: www.dazeychic.etsy.com
One of the reasons I love Redbubble so much, is the inspiration that other artists give me. Some time ago my australian mate Michael Bermingham posted Old Yanchep Inn which to me is a timeless classic. Then Shelly Hiebert posted Sacred which is just a fantastic image. I always wanted to get a shot similar to both of those and digging through my archives back to 2007, I came across this image I took with my Nikon D50 in the Madison State Capitol building. A little HDR processing, converted to B&W, little noise reduction applied, some Dodge & Burn (which Kimberly Palmer first introduced me to) and this is what I came up with. Please also look at Michael’s and Shelly’s image, as well as Kimberly’s work.

This is a print of the original piece entitled “I will wait for you here” / It was hand drawn with ink and digitally altered with color and texture. The background is old fabric that was scanned and copied into the print. I absolutely adore this piece. It shoots me right back to fifth grade when my best friend had her dad build us a swing in the woods. I used to swing for hours looking up at the birds…and wait. Im not sure what I was waiting for back then…but it didnt matter, I was happiest there. This print is available for purchase as cards that you can mail to someone you adore (Or more likely, keep for yourself and frame!) and a few prints. You can always view more of my work here: / www.dazeychic.etsy.com Thanks so much for looking! ~Shelli
This small rock pool is found in Cabbage Tree Bay, along the pathway between Manly and Shelly Beach on Sydney’s northern beaches. The sculpture/statue is known as The Oceanids. This image was a 30 second exposure nearly an hour before sunrise with the pool wall and sculpture lit up by a nearby street light. This image has also won a photo of the week at photographer Steve Parish’s Photograph Australia website.

This is a print of one of my “rough” sketches that started out as a tiny doodle in my sketch pad…it turned into something bigger…and I fell in love with it. I just follow my pencil…whatever it does I go with. This was hand drawn and then enhanced digitally to give the piece color. I did not erase my pencil lines because I feel it adds some needed character and personality! I love the green…Im so loving green lately! Anyway, its available for purchase as cards and a canvas print. / Thanks for looking! ~Shelli

This is the second version of the image that I submitted four days ago. As I mentioned in the description of version #1, there were chances that I would still want to improve on it. Well I was not really satisfied with it and gave it another go. The long crossing through adolescence and into adulthood is not always an easy one. For many young people, it often seems like a neverending path, flooded with tears, a river of dark and murky waters ... The model in this shot is Abi, my RB friend Shelly’s beautiful daughter who is 15. She was photographed by her very talented mom Work uploaded for a challenge in the Collaborations group. The challenge consisted in using one or both of the two / images on the left as a starting point to create something / new. monocotylidono Shelly Hiebert / I chose to use both images, but also to add a 3rd collaborator. Vikram Franklin has kindly accepted to let me use this photo of boat, and I used a bit of sky to improve on the new version as well. / I also added some textures of my own, as described below: This bit of agitated water was used mostly over the path. I simply copied a bit of water from the image below into a new document and distorted the perspective a bit. One of my bad shots of a river. Nice to recycle into a texture! / Here is another photo of mine used as a texture: I use this photo of the St-Lawrence river in the fog very often in composites. This time, it was used in at least 7 layers with various blending modes and opacities. I thought that the sky needed something and a crying moon was ideal. I used a photo of my niece, added tears of blood and spherized it to create a moon. Played with the sky and shifted the thinning clouds to place the moon in a better position. Finally, I added a sheer layer of moon glow. I took this photo on the 14 Feb 2009. Valentines Day. What you can’t see in this image is how bad the rain was that day. I got soaked and my gear got wet. This is a 3exp HDR generated in photomatix and then touched up a bit in Lightroom. Shot on a Nikon D700 with a 2.8 16-35mm nikkor zoom. alexkess.com
