  • Pastel on Canson paper (gold – smooth side) – 35cm x 50cm The gold colour of the paper worked really well to give ‘warmth’ to this painting. I did this in the woolshed of a local property – ‘Denallabar ’ – (the name is on the wool bale by the door). The working dogs are ‘Sally’ and ‘Kitch’, patiently waiting to get the next ‘run’ of sheep in for the shearers. Featured in the Melbourne & Victoria group – April 2009 / Featured in the Painter’s in Modern Times group – May 2009 / Featured in Creative Cards – June 2009 / Featured in Working Dogs – July 2009

  • A Close-up of a pair of old garden shears left laying around in my back yard. Believe it or they still work!! Kwinana Western Australia Olympus E-410

  • Pastel on Canson Mi Teintes paper (brown) – 70cm x 50cm I spent a most enjoyable afternoon in a local shed sitting on a wool bale scribbling onto a sketch pad and taking some reference photos and this was what I came up with. The Men at Work are Pete and Garry. Pete (the fella with the broom) is my husband. It was quite a few years ago, (in the days when they both still had quite a bit of hair on their heads)!!!!! Featured in ‘Australia! You’re Standing in It’ group – July 2009

  • Canon 50D / Canon 24-105@24mm / f4 / 1/30 sec / ISO 1600 / Cokin: P001 (yellow) & P153 ND Shot in mono – straight from the camera / Urangaline was once part of Brookong Station (1847) and covered about 480 000 acres. In 1864, Robert rand Purchased Urangaline from the Osborne Bros of Brookong for 38 000 pounds cash. The deal included 107 000 acres and 38 000 sheep. The shed was hand made – from stands of Murray and Cyprus Pine. The columns swere sunk to 1.3 metres and stood 5 metres above the floor. In 1889 another section was added and by the time they had finished, Urangaline was the largest woolshed in the world, with 101 stands….Brookong, not to be outdone, added another stand to their shed making it 102 stands. The number of machines were finally reduced to 75, improving effeciency to the point that in 1892, 260 000 sheep were shorn for a record clip of 5, 500 bales. ( Thanks to Chris Madden for the access and history) / Note Urangaline is a heritage listed shed. /
