That Can Only Be Seen Through the Cracks… All images used in this composite taken with Sony Alpha 350, various lenses, and are mine. Separate layers of images of broken glass using various blending modes, individual ‘shards’ of glass from different images layered on top to attempt to give the appearance of their sharp edges ‘threatening’ the viewer. The image of the person layered underneath and ‘stretched’ so that the eyes matched the gaps in the cracks. / I experimented with desaturating the colour in this image, but decided that leaving colour ‘as is’ from the various layers created more impact. Another self-portrait for my photography final, “Fragmented Self-Image”. I was bulimic with anorexic tendencies for a few years. / In a way, eating was a painful and difficult thing to do, and I always regretted eating. I felt as if anything I consumed would do harm and damage to my body. / Altered the title to Anorexia Bulimia, because it applies to both, not just anorexia. I was mostly bulimic anyway, and felt this way all the time.

A spiral weather vane or wind vane made of colorful strips of cloth and sprockets, is captured in a way that creates an abstract, yet only some parts are sharp to give the viewer an idea of the object and how it works. / CONSIDER THIS IMAGE AS A COMPANION! /
Beautiful colour and texture on a building in Essaouira, Morocco.

Something old or something new, beautiful or an eyesore. It is still a debate, but love it or not this structure is different.
Sometimes there is humanity within abstraction. I’m not sure the proper way to put it, but this, of all my art, bears my humanity. It may seem odd that I consider this myself as other… but the it no rule dictating if other must be human, fantastical, or pure energy upon paper. I consider this to be myself, simply ripped apart and dug into deeply. / This may look like nothing, but it actually was one of the most intensive experiences I’ve had in the visual arts. I find a bit of direction and even peace in it, though its colors are those of anger and melancholy. I chose to post it because I believe in the soul of a work of art, and know for sure that souls, those not inborn, must develop by rubbing off of another through regular interaction – something can be the most magnificent picture/painting in the world, but it is as empty as laser-pigment on bleached printer paper if it came in a flash… likewise the worst image imaginable may have a deepness to shame the ocean if it was danced with for weeks, months, years… there is notable merit in beauty alone, sure, but a soul is often required to speak freely to others.
This is how my first serious painting looks like and I chose to paint an owl. That was like 6 years ago I think :D Very few had seen this. When I was painting this, I was thinking “If I were an owl, I would be able to hear the sweet whispers of lovers in the park.”...yep, in case you are wondering, those are sound waves, owls have such fantastic hearing that’s simply amazing!! I always treasure the beginner’s spirit and I kept reminding myself not to lose it….because once you become used to something, it loses that magic, It is now nicely framed and hanging in the most intimate part of my apartment. For those of you who may be curious to see how my owls look like now, you can check them out at my udonchow gallery here in RB :D / /
