Water is a universal symbol for the Soul and is represented by different moods and qualities. It can be gentle like rain and as hard as ice. In this painting using wax the Water Bird has arrived, to be refreshed and to return to its real state of purity by washing away the debit of the past. Encaustic wax

  • When he had brought his lecture to an end, / the lofty scholar looked into my face, / searching to see if I seemed satisfied; And I, already thirsting for more drink, / kept silent, wondering: “Could he, perhaps, / be tired of all this questioning of mine?” / / But that true father, sensing my desire, / which was too timid to express itself, / spoke first, and thus encouraged me to speak. / / I said: “Master, the light you shed has made / my sight so keen that now I clearly see / all that your words mean or what they imply. So I beseech you, father, kind and dear, / define love for me, please, which is, you say / the source of every virtue, every vice.” “Now focus your mind’s eye on what I say,” / he said, “and you will clearly understand / the error of the blind who lead the blind. / / The Soul at birth, created quick to love, / will move toward anything that pleases it, / as soon as pleasure causes it to move. / / Words by Dante Best viewed in large format Acrylics, ink, graphite, pigment and gold leaf on paper

  • Every atom, every electron and molecule is in constant and intense vibration. There is nothing solid in material matter. Acrylic, pigment, graphite and gold leaf / 100×42cm on paper This painting was inspired by Jung

  • Nut had a special relationship with the sun and stars. She was thought to swallow the stars in the morning and give birth to the sun. During the day, the sun would travel across her body and in the evening, this would be swallowed as the stars issued forth from her womb. This image was likened to a sow swallowing and then giving birth to her piglets. In her form as a cow and as a woman she was often pictured with stars upon her body. Painting with wax, inks, pigment, chalk and gold leaf / 100×42 cm on paper Music – Massive Attack – Sly / Sly

  • Paint your palette blue and grey / Look out on a summer’s day / With eyes that know the darkness in my soul Shadows on the hills Sketch the trees and the daffodils / Catch the breeze and the winter chills / In colours on the snowy linen land Now I understand / What you tried to say to me / And how you suffered for your sanity / And how you tried to set them free / They would not listen they did not know how / Perhaps they’ll listen now. Starry starry night Flaming flowers that brightly blaze / Swirling clouds in violet haze / Reflect in Vincent’s eyes of china blue / Colours changing hue / Morning fields of amber grain / Weathered faces lined in pain / Are soothed beneath the artist’s LOVING hand Now I understand / What you tried to say to me / And how you suffered for your sanity / And how you tried to set them free / They would not listen they did not know how / Perhaps they’ll listen now For they could not love you / But still your love was true / And when no hope was left inside / On that starry starry night You took your life as lover’s often do But I could have told you, / Vincent, / This world was never meant for one as beautiful as you Starry starry night Portraits hung in empty halls / Frameless heads on nameless walls / With eyes that watch the world and can’t forget / Like the strangers that you’ve met The ragged men in ragged clothes / A silver thorn / A bloody rose / Lie crushed and broken on the virgin snow / Now I think I know / What you tried to say to me / And how you suffered for your sanity / And how you tried to set them free / They would not listen / They’re not listening still Perhaps they never will – Words by Don McLean Music – Art of Noise – On Being Blue / For Vincent Painting in acrylics, inks, pigment, chalk and graphite / 100×42 cm on paper

  • Look to this day: / For it is life, the very life of life. / In its brief course / Lie all the verities and realities of your existence. / The bliss of growth, / The glory of action, / The splendour of achievement / Are but experiences of time. For yesterday is but a dream / And tomorrow is only a vision; / And today well-lived, makes / Yesterday a dream of happiness / And every tomorrow a vision of hope. / Look well therefore to this day; / Such is the salutation to the ever-new dawn! • Every Spiritual order has a system for developing the human body. The Yogi have Yoga and The Egyptians had Sesh, Sesenti, Khentu, Usert and Sebek -Kha. The Ancient Egyptians sages taught all initiates about their nine bodies, Khat, The Physical Body; Ren, The Sound Body, Eb, The Heart Body; Ka, The Desire Body; Ba, The Soul Body; Khibit, The Astral Body and Khu, The Universal Spirit God. / The Ba – The ‘Ba is in some regards the closest to the contemporary Western religious notion of a soul, but it also was everything that makes an individual unique, similar to the notion of ‘personality’. (In this sense, inanimate objects could also have a ‘Ba’, a unique character, and indeed Old Kingdom Pyramids often were called the ‘Ba’ of their owner). Like a Soul, the ‘Ba’ is a part of a person that the Egyptians believed would live after the body died, and it is sometimes depicted as a human-headed bird flying out of the tomb to join with the ‘Ka’ in the afterlife. 23rd January 2009

  • R. A. Schwaller de Lubicz, lived for fifteen years among the temples and tombs of Luxor and Karnak, in order to try and penetrate the secret symbolism of the hieroglyphs. I feel so very fortunate to have experienced the love and guidance of such a wonderful woman. Happy Birthday Mavis from all our Spirits Guides and everyone on Red Bubble. Thank you for everything you do! It is only by being thoroughly conscientious about trifling matters that one can become conscientious in everything. This is the way to cultivate the good tree, so that in the end it cannot bear anything but good fruit..... Taken from The Spiritual Teaching of Bible Plants by G.Henslow.M.A. Music – Loreena Mckennit July 13th 2009 With Love Always

  • I dreamt a dream! What can it mean? / And that I was a maiden Queen / Guarded by an Angel mild: / Witless woe was ne’er beguiled! And I wept both night and day, / And he wiped my tears away; / And I wept both day and night, / And hid from him my heart’s delight. So he took his wings, and fled; / Then the morn blushed rosy red. / I dried my tears, and armed my fears / With ten-thousand shields and spears. Soon my Angel came again; / I was armed, he came in vain; / For the time of youth was fled, / And grey hairs were on my head. Poem Angel, The by William Blake August 3rd 2009

  • That is one of the great difficulties in experiencing the unconscious—that one identifies with it and becomes a fool. You must not identify with the unconscious; you must keep outside, detached, and observe objectively what happens…. it is exceedingly difficult to accept such a thing, because we are so imbued with the fact that our unconscious is our own – my unconscious, his unconscious, her unconscious – and our prejudice is so strong that we have the greatest trouble disidentifying. Jung, C. G. The Psychology of Kundalini Yoga – Notes of the Seminar given in 1922 by C. G. Jung. Painting inspired by Jung Music – Peter Gabriel’s Passion Acrylics, pigments and graphite / 102×42cm on paper September, 27th 2009
