Nerites the Sea God There are various legends surrounding Nerites the Greek Sea God and handsome son of Gaia. He was said to have been a shapeshifter, and the lover of Aphrodite. While worshipping in the temple of Athena she was raped by Neptune. Athena was outraged and punished Medusa by turning her magnificent hair into snakes and giving her the power to any man into stone who gazed upon her…..it’s a fascinating tale. /
