So impressed with the art on the homepage, I decided to do a photomontage of one of these beautiful Chinese Junks… Hope you like it.. sxc.hu, my own photos and textures…. Slow Boat to China I’d like to get you / On a slow boat to China, / All to myself alone. / To get you and keep you in my arms evermore, / Leave all your lovers / Weeping on the faraway shore. / Out on the briny / With the moon big and shinny, / Melting your heart of stone. / Darling, I’d love to get you / On a slow boat to China, / All to myself alone.

YuYuan
My grandfather grew up in China prior to the second world war. He told me stories of an exciting existence, an intertwined reality of ex-pat decadence and rich Chinese culture. I wanted to design a motor car befitting of some of his stories, and create a scene of context. I suppose it’s a parallel universe viewpoint of an automobile that could have been. This image is dedicated to him.
Some fragrant plum blossoms in the ancient Yu Gardens of Shanghai.

From a film shoot I did in China and this lady is an extra on set. I was struck first by the light and what made it perfect for me was her position, her pose was so of the period. The way she sits so “proper”.

“Li” means neighborhoods, “Long” means lanes. These two words combine to describe an urban housing form which characterizes the amazing city of Shanghai. © Loredana Crupi 2007 See more works BLACK & WHITE CHINA SERIES NATURE ABSTRACT

Image by photographer Glennis Siverson, www.glennisphotos.com. This photograph was chosen for National Geographic’s website in 2007 as part of their focus on China. The shot was taken through the window of a bus, looking out at the rainy streets of Shanghai.
A drawing done in the same style as the Bailando print.

The Bund at night. Shanghai is sinking, collapsing under the weight of the massive construction taken place over the last 50 years. The Huangpu river is higher than streetlevel, and so is kept at bay by flood walls which double as the promenade of The Bund. The Suzhou river mouth at the right foreground was a popular place for gangsters to dump corpses during Shangai’s jazz heyday in the 1930s. / My short film Shanghai
Verging on the over-exposed, this photo nonetheless shows the magic of Yu Yuan gardens in Shanghai. While there, I attempted (then soon later rejected) chicken feet, but I did quite enjoy the lovely dumplings, the Xiaolongbao, even if they were made from the ‘insides of a crad! Highly recommended.
