Totem #1 is the first of a series of pieces that represent an animal attached to a human figure, like if they are part of the same body. They can also be animal totems, if you prefer. The Totems carry also a very simple concept: our deep attachment to Nature as one single thing. The Black King’s Bishop (The Shaman) / Artist: Simon Sherry / Biography: Danny Descendants of an ancient race, the Shaman have links to the old ways, ways observed before man was the dominant species of the world. The shaman is spiritual overlord of the army and is answerable only to the king. Legend has it the ancestors of the king tricked the shaman – even then a dying breed- to serve him and in doing so bound their loyalty to all kings that followed for all time. / Shaman have become an intricate link in the chain that have evolved into the Armies of the Black Spear and it’s development into the warrior nation it has now become. The Shaman through majik and selective breeding have created the Black Knights, Monoliths, Basilisk and Pawn Spawn / The Shaman does not regret or harbor resentment for things past and is totally loyal to the king and the betterment of the Army of the Black Spear. Ye’iis control natural forces in and on the earth, such as day and night, rain, wind, sun, etc. A very special kind of ye’ii is the Yei’bi’chai, grandparent spirit or “talking God” who can speak with man, telling him how to live in harmony with all living things by following a few rules of behavior and using only the basic things he needs to survive.
