  • Canon 20D – 17-40mm L – 17mm – 1s – f/11 Antelope Canyon is the most-visited and most-photographed slot canyon in the American Southwest. It is located on Navajo land near Page, Arizona. Antelope Canyon formed over the course of millions of years by erosion of the Navajo Sandstone, primarily due to flash flooding and secondarily due to wind erosion. Rainwater (especially during monsoon season) runs into the wash that Antelope Canyon is part of, picking up speed and sand as it rushes through the narrow passageways. Over time the passageways are eroded away, making the corridors wider and smoothing hard edges in such a way as to form characteristic ‘flowing’ shapes in the rock. Upper Antelope Canyon, called Tse bighanilini, “the place where water runs through rocks” by the Navajo, is the most frequently visited by tourists, due to two considerations. First, its entrance and entire length are at ground level, requiring no climbing. Second, beams (shafts of direct sunlight radiating down from openings in the top of the canyon) are much more common in Upper than in Lower. Beams occur most often in the summer months, as they require the sun to be high in the sky. / In the same series: / / / This image has sold 12 times, including multiple Framed Prints, to some unknown buyers from RedBubble.

  • A hot summers day in the southern Mallee sees the development of a masive system of thunderstorms. Sitting almost stationary they unload the moisture they have collected during the day. Up on a high hill I witnessed this massive shaft of rain with strong out flow winds and spectacular lightning. Was truly an awesome sight.

  • can you feel …..... / golden velvet walls / are they violet flames / feeling tall / on mountain tops / of earth i was now i am fire / cleanse purify / say goodbye / to what once was / feel new wings soar above wild i was / in private lives / where i smouldered / yet felt small fire anew / smelting walls / spirit rise and water falls / from skyclad flesh / where clung the aroma of death

  • This is for Daniel and his poem / Verdict, If You Please Dear judge, dear jurors / Even those too shortsighted to look any further / Look in my face and tell me again / That I’m disgusting, a monster, demonic, perverted Do you know who I am? I can reap laughter like summertime rain / Even when despair is rooted deep in his ocean / Though he gets on my nerves / We were patient enough to wait… and wait… and wait… / For the passion to finally blossom / Into something much more unshakeable – devotion Yes, that cute little flower grew into a tree / Because we saw more in each other / Than a few sleazy hours of midnight glee / And instead chose something less temporary: The Living Water, given freely to me / Too good, too miraculous not to be shared / And I plan to forever quench his thirst / Regardless of how the years may change / The shape of our bodies, from limo to hearse / Or how Black will make room for the Gray in our hair Yes, I’d lay down my life for him / Even more if Jesus saw fit to give me more than life / But that was all, so that is all / No, that is ALL that I can / That I will / That I have / Given in my outstretched hands to him Yes, I’d lay down with him / My closeness I’d give him / And even if the sun, from now til Armageddon / Somehow couldn’t bring itself one more time to be risen / I’d keep myself near in the darkness / So my face would never, ever escape his vision And when life gets him weary / When his heart gets tired of beating / When Satan tempts him to cry out for a knife / Like the cure is the impulse to get his chest bleeding There exists not a moment that my hands won’t find his / Nor a moment when his forehead won’t deserve to be kissed / I’ll place a finger to stem the sobs that pour out his lips / And remind his soul just how undeniably beautiful it is Now, if that fills his cup / If that is enough / If I could shield him from death / Just by singing to him the faintest echoes / Of God’s unconditional love Every day, every night / Every ounce of this gift called time What if I decide / To stay by his side / To sing him that song for the rest of my life? Tell me, dear judge, dear jurors / Who look at me and think their hearts to be purer / Tell me again (perhaps now it’ll sink in) / That what I’ve done for him is a horrific, detestable sin

  • This image was taken late afternoon in the loft of our barn (badly in need of a new roof). At first I was captivated by the points of light in the semi-dark loft and tried capturing them. Then I thought to myself how much more interesting they would be if you could see the light in its path from the roof to the spot of light on the floor so I began to move the loose hay on the floor from one side of the barn to the other. (I am terribly allergic to hay.) The dust worked its magic and created a spectacular light show. Several hours later my lungs are still agonizing over the assault! / Shown here with off white mat in mocha flat frame. /

  • I love my walks in the woods … and I do come past this particular spot fairly frequently … never does the light seem quite right for a shot with character and personality …. you know the kind of shot I mean – one that “says” something!! Well, until this particular morning of course!! Imagine my delight and wonder at the display before my eyes! Epping Forest, Essex, UK Canon EOS 450D 18-55mm kit lens

  • Although you can’t see the shafts of light you can see their effect. Certain trees were illuminated and others stayed in the shade. I emphasised this by ten multiple exposures with larger movement between exposures than I usually do. This has elongated the trees and given them a smoothness to their form.

  • Deep in the gorge of Watkins Glen, fascinated by the luminous shafts of sunlight that found their way into this beautiful, but often dark place. • Continued story from Evening Rainbow. After shooting the rainbow from my yard I turn to go back in the house when I saw this wonderful sunset. but it was blocked by trees, houses and ugly power lines. So even though I was bare footed I rushed down the street for a clearer view. This is what I captured. Shot taken with a Canon Power Shot A570 IS. / Taken August 12th 2009 at 8:34pm in Winnipeg MB Canada.
